Hey guys,

you know that bathroom light that makes every bad thing on your body become more apparant?

Well, I'm going to buy some new lightbulbs and I need some help finding ones that don't show my hairloss in INCREDIBLY bad light.

Any suggestions?

On the top of the mirror, I have four lights (only one of them is plugged in :) ) And they are covered with (forgive my description) and iradescent, WHITE SHADE.

I don't know what my lightbulb watt frequency is, but it's extremely bright.

Do you all have any lightbulb suggestions?

What about those "natural" sunlight-like lightbulbs> I heard they help clear up depression, but I don't know how they help conceal your hairloss in the mirror.

The "natural" bulbs you're talking about are also known as "full-spectrum" lighting, i.e., the makers attempt to immitate all the sun's visible wavelengths of light. In general, this type of light is more revealing of detail - hobbyists often use these bulbs to do intricate painting/assembly/etc. Although I've never used them in a bathroom setting, my guess is that they'd accentuate any skin or hair situation. I could be wrong, though.

I'd think some of those "soft" bulbs advertised might do the trick. Or, you might check into the "compact fluorescent" bulbs that screw into a normal socket. Home Depot has a whole isle dedicated to lightbulbs. You might just buy a few different kinds, see what works best, and return the rest.

Natural sunlight always shows the worst scenario for thinning hair, as hairwego stated above it includes wider ranges of the wave spectrum.

The spectrum that sunlight shows also vary from station to station, in summer it´s red predominance, in winter another... So maybe dying hair to red could be a good trick for the summer light!! :p

Hairwegoagain,
thanks! I'm going to check out Home Depot today and look at the "soft" lightbulbs. I think it will greatly help me.

Everyone else, thank you!

Wouldnt you want to keep the same lighting so you can judge progress?

Ang_99, I'd rather not judge progress in the mirror, but by photographic assessment. When I look into the mirror, I don't stop looking.

Yeah, good point. I made the mistake of not taking any pics early on. BIG MISTAKE. Now my mind plays tricks on me, sometimes I think I look worse, sometimes better, and sometimes the same. I wish I took pics a year ago.. :(

Your mind WILL play tricks on you.

You should definitely avoid starting in the mirror all the time. I used to. A complete waste of time... It puts you in a bad mentality.

I actually take the opposite approach. I have 4 sockets too, and I try to make it as bright as possible in there. I don't want to look in the mirror and feel all good, when I know it looks much worse in sunlight.
