So it links you to Alpecin's website that quizzes you on your baldness (also looks like a way of promoting their products like you see on the laser comb website. Apparently I will go bald or be fully bald at age 65... hmm.. if only! I want most of my hair, or I will shave it off.. no half measures, so I guess they mean I will have the horse shoe round the back.

This is not a reliable test. When it asked for the state of my current hair there was no picture to match mine. I had to choose between only receding at the forehead, or receding with a bald patch. In my case I have a receding hairline, but no bald patch. It is however thinning all over on top, I just don't have a bald patch. There was no option for this. I had to choose the one without the bald patch.

According to them "The male baldness calculator determined that you will likely not go bald even in old age." This is already wrong as I am going bald already.

I don't believe the test result. I think it's rubbish.

However, I have read about the benefits of caffeine and stuff, I checked the price of the shampoo and I'm sold. I'm gonna order it :whistle:

Alpecin is a nice shampoo..I tried it for a while but read that it didn't work well with minoxidil and sure enough the first day I used Rogaine again I got the worst scalp flaking I'd ever seen so stopped using the Alpecin. I'm thinking now it might have been just a reaction to re-introducing Rogaine so will try Alpecin again. It is very cheap. Get the red Double Effect one - it has piroctone olamine in it as well as the caffeine.

I've just checked Boots website. They sell the normal shampoo and alpecin liquid, they don't have Double Effect.

I was thinking of going into town tomorrow morning, I'm thinking of buying the shampoo.

I'm just not sure what the liquid is for??? Anyone using the liquid?

The liquid is just like a scalp tonic you leave in after washing. I've never tried it as I imagine it makes hair look greasy.

I got the Double-Effect in a Boots shop.

I suppose it depends on their definition of "baldness". My uncle has been NW4 for the last 40 years, so if I have similar balding pattern as him I would never be completely bald...

According to the test I'll be "bald" at 66.

Obviously the test is sh*t.
NW4 is pretty bald. Maybe not at 50+, but its definitely pretty bald if you're less than 40.

Seriously, it's a marketing ploy. You're given the results, and then you're directed to their products and asked to buy them. Giving you a baldness estimate is just a way to reel you in.

This is extremely clever. The fact that they've managed to phone the Telegraph and convince them to run it as an article is even more impressive. Just make sure you don't buy into it - it's utter bullshit

I think male journalists would be interested in such stories, and they would make sure it gets published. I don't find it surprising at all.

I personally regard an NW3 as bald [although they are still closer to having a full head of hair], I've always felt that it's best to either have it all or majoritly so or be away with it. I am an NW2 and diffusing with some thinning in the vertex also and even at this stage I've shaved it to a zero grade to "accept" it but have found myself twice bouncing back to believe my hair is wearable and that I could regrow it.
