I am opening this poll to see is there any correlation between male pattern baldness and body hair. Members who have fewer hairs on chest, legs and arms but not truly hairless should count them as hairless bodied person.
If there was such a poll before then delete this thread.

Lots of body hair on legs and arms. Can easily grow a beard. No hair at all on my back (as smooth as my palm) and barely any on my chest. NW1.5-2.0 at 21 years of age.
Father has full body hair and is NW5 at 50.

I'm 21 and slowly balding. I can grow a thick full beard. Just missing tiny bit of the conenctors that connect my moustache to the chin. I definitely have an above average amount of body for my age. Always been the hairiest guy in my class until a gorilla transferred to my school lol. I pretty much have hair growing on all the parts that can physically grow hair.

Now that you mention it, the hairiest guy i know who had chest hair and a full beard at the age of 15 also has a perfect NW0 straight hairline now and so does his dad

I honestly love my body hair (Except the back and shoulder hair lmao). I kinda envy him that he has both amazing head hair and body hair. The guy I mentioned who transferred to my class that was hairier than me but was way worse in the norwood scale. He could grow viking beard at like 15. His Dad and older brothers were all practically slick bald. His body hair was kinda sexy and I kinda had a crush on him lol.

There is some correlation because all body hair and facial hair is caused by androgens it simply has to be. How many women have full beards and back mats of body hair that you know? Its obviously almost completely testosterone and DHT driven because women given androgens go bald, and grow facial hair like men!
male pattern baldness though isnt DHT driven its the reaction you have to androgens. You could be very sensitive to androgens just like someone with allergies reacts negatively to the same pollen in the air while some other guy has zero allergies to it. Its not absolute androgen levels that matter but the crucial sensitivity probably the immune system reaction. Some men have a certain immune reaction than other men why stuff like cyclosporin is so effective its immune system driven

its unlikely IMO a super hairy guy gets into older age with amazing hair though. I think most men are sensitive to androgens to some degree, and it just gets worse with age.

Next to no body hair but still a Norwood 4. Its probable that I have low testosterone just high sensitivity to androgens. I don't mind the lack of body hair its the lack of head hair what irks me.

Really high sensitivity and low DHT seems like a pretty bad combination right now for propecia. I still think sensitivity comes down to the immune system attacking hairs exactly like antibodies attacking allergens in people with allergies. That is why cyclosporin and drugs that suppress immune system get huge amounts of regrowth. That drug recently for osteoporosis the pictures of regrowth for that are like Norwood 4 to Norwood 1 or Norwood 2 huge regrowth. The immune system is a big player, but tough to fix.

Agreed! I cant take finasteride it fecks me up bad style. I believe my immune system has a great part to play in my hair loss as I also suffer from hay fever/insect bite allergy's. The problem will always be how to suppress the immune system so hair will regrow whilst still having an effective immune system to fight off actual infections. My family genetics suggest that I should live a long and healthy life as the male line generally lives well in to their 90s so having a over active immune system may be part of it. I am hoping that drugs like WAY may be the answer for people like me but that could be years away.

I have very very hairy legs, arms, chest, shoulders and some hair on my back. I have decent amount of facial hair too though connectors are of lighter colour. I'm dark blond and 23. I'm hairier than my father and also, balder.

I have light hair all over my arms, leg full of hair, neither too less nor too much on my chest and stomach, light hairs on my back. Can't grow a full beard although I think I am 80% there but still patchy but whatever beard I have the hair are dark and pretty much thick (not that thick but still not like peach fuzz) and yes I am balding, norwood 2 age 21.

Few day back i said on this forum that body hair and baldness has no correlation .but lately I changed my mind and thought it would be better to open poll.
I think people with body hair go bald definitely. But with slow rate . there is not super accelerated baldness with them. Their body hair consumes lots of DHT so moderate amount of DHT is left to go to scalp.that DHT then somehow slowly turn them into bald man.

That's not how biology works.

It was a guess . no one knows how people get baldness . body hair is indication that hairs are sensitive to DHT that may have reverse effect on scalp hair. End organ DHT sensitivity is a matter of much study.but having body hair make you predispose to loosing hair on head

The scalp, and many other areas in the body, has 5-alpha reductase. This transforms T to DHT. DHT isn't made in one spot and then distributed to all of the body.
