Balding? What Norwood Is This? Just Paranoid?

Hi,

Just wondering if I started balding or just freaking out. I am 28 years old. Father still has a head full of hair at 72 years old and is about NW2. Up until his late 50's and early 60's, he was NW1. On my mother's side, her father had a head full of hair at 80. I am mostly worried about the right side top corner (see side pictures). What norwood is this?

Theres a little thinning at hairline there. I know most will say theres not but this is how mine started. Dint worry though at your age its ever so slight. It could amount to nothing given your history and probably wont. My advice.. keep an eye on it and compare in a years time. If its thinned anymore you could try small dose finasteride but you dont need it yet for sure

Possibily an early onset of diffused thinning. I would say its feasible after having a look at genetic heriditability of male pattern baldness.

Hair looks thicc. I know some people are saying you might be diffusing, but I think your hair looks normal considering the fact that you're lifting your hair up under harsh lighting. Go get the opinion of a derm if you're worried.

I have an almost similar hairline as you. 29 this year and first realised my forehead was getting higher about 3 years ago. I have a light mole on my temple which used to be covered by hair but now sitting at the edge of the hairline so it was definitely some form of slow balding. I am currently on minoxidil and stemoxydine to slow down the progress.

Hi,

Just an update as it's been over 2y since this post. I'm 30 years old and still keeping an eye on it.

Noticed a slight thinning, might be due to stress and wondering if it's time to hop on Rogaine/Minoxidil? Or other options such as dermaroller, microneedling, prp? Or let it be?

What makes you think that? He's got no miniaturization and he's a nw1-nw1.5 while others with worse hairlines keep their hair for ever. Perhaps if we say the old photos in the op we'd have a better idea about what will happen to his hair because people pointed out diffuse thinning in his first post but there's little to no recession on the hairline and we can't see any thinning in the new pictures.

I don't think that's diffuse thinning, it looks normal. And your hairline is a nw1 at 30 years old so you're not balding. Obviously it'd be wise to keep an eye on it but I don't think you have anything to worry about. Take pictures once every year and stop worrying.
