I am sick of seeing virtually all slick bald men sporting goatees these days. They look so homogeneous and it is quite obvious that they are trying to compensate. What's up with this "trend"? I know I will have no option but to shave in a year or so (at the rate I am going) and I don't like what I see, with respect to these goatees. Stop it already! Don't grow out that goatee just to blend in or look tough!

I agree w/Cassin. It's that kind of attitude that you need when dealing with hair loss or an ex girlfriend.

"You want to go? Then GO!! Get the hell out of here!"

They get rid of it and get on with their life.

Anton LaVey had the same idea a long time ago.

I think the idea behind the goatee is to draw a person's eyes away from the scalp, as if the focus of your face is lower. I think glasses do the same thing. I think a full beard (not a long one, but very little trimming) with a tight buzz (same length as the beard) looks good.

To me, a shaved head isn't the "to hell with it!" message that a lot of people are going for. It's just as insecure as a combover, in my opinion.

So what's better? A neatly trimmed horseshoe?

I could not disagree with you more. I don't see people staring at ones goatee if they are bald.

what an a**h** you are to post a picture of a pedophile in this thread.

i've noticed something about you. I think you're jealous of people who shave and buzz their head because you cant do it. you fucked your head up with disgusting implants and now you have to live your life with clumps of dust and makeup in your hair believing that you're fooling people. f*** off with your negativity you clown.

Goatees are very rare in Europe, it's just not in fashion these days. I'd like to have a goatee, but I would look so out of place.

I buzzed my head for 4 yrs and hated every minute of it, I prefer where I am now.

Absolute rubbish, how'd you come to that conclusion? People with shaved heads often do so out of convenience and it looks better.

Combovers are a bad attempt at hiding something.

A shaved head is convienent? Hardly. To keep the stubble away so the horseshoe isn't apparent means shaving weekly. If you just keep it buzzed, you don't have to cut it as often, and the process is less time-consuming than taking a razor to your scalp. THAT says "I just don't care" more than a shaved head. Shaving is an attempt at a style and seems just as insecure, especially if you don't have a good head shape, skin tone, or build to make it work. Don't get me wrong, some guys look good with it, but most don't.

A buzzed hair (Buzz, shaved, whatever. I use the terms interchangeably) looks SO much better than thin whispy hair. It's more convenient in that you don't need to worry about what it looks like, it's appearance wet, hairs in the shower, in different lightss, covering areas etc. it always looks the same.

It's nothing like a combover which is like telling people 'I'm not really bald!!! I have a full head of hair!' - That is insecure.

Viper, I always enjoy reading your posts. They always seem to cheer me up some how. By the way, Prison Break is still one of the best shows on TV. At least the Scofield brothers do not sport a goatee.

I guess some guys do it because they have a very young-looking face which can look weird with no hair. Also if you are really pale and can't (or don't want to) tan, it at least avoids "the cancer look".

That's just like saying that guys shaving their head look so homogeneous and are trying to compensate as well. Why not just let the horseshoe grow out, right?

I think shaved heads and goatees look cool. When I watched wrestling a few years back I was always a big fan of Stone Cold Steve Austin. When I first started balding I always said I'd try and look like Stone Cold if my hair started to look really bad. I don't think that guy would've looked better with hair, the look just suited him. My dad now has pretty bad hair loss and thanks to me and my brother we have convinced him to buzz it. He didn't start balding until in his forties and he was pretty self-conscious about it, especially when he saw photographs. I used to tell him all the time to shave it off and grow a goatee so he could look like Stone Cold. Now that he buzzes it he doesn't worry so much. I think shaving/buzzing it off is like letting go and accepting it.

they absolutely do not
gosh is the goatee so out of style. it was in style in the early 1990s with generation x-ers who sat in cofee shops with plastic glasses and owned .com companies.
