Bald Genes in my family

My father is bald. He's been bald since I've known him (NW4), which was about the age of 33. My grandfather is bald, has been every since I've known him (Pro Combover). Then today, for the first time in my life, I saw a photograph of my great grandfather (my father's side) in his 70's. And the dude had hair. not like full, thick hair that could be mistaken for a piece, but short, slicked back hair at about NWII. So I was just thinking.. Is anyone balding whose father is/was not? Because I've personally never seen anyone and it's just got me curious all of a sudden. Anyone else notice things like this in their geneology? Everyone on my mother's side has great hair, and I'm 25 at about a NWII.

My father has a full head of hair.
All of my uncles on my father's side had tons of hair.
My grandfather on my father's side had a full head of hair.
My grandfather on my mother's side was about a NW2 with good hair when he died.
My only uncle on my mother's side, who is about 50, has about a NW2, but has good hair.

My brother is balding pretty badly. He's about a NW2, or 2.5, with a growing bald spot in the vertex.
I'm about a NW2, my hair is pretty good right now because I was using finasteride for 2 years so it's stabilized...but now that I'm off of finasteride, it may go to sh*t. My point is, although genetics are very important, I don't think it's the only determining factor. I met with a dermatologist who I told about the fact that there was no hairloss in my family, and she said "It has to start somewhere..."

Haha that's pretty bad, dude.

For me it's like: Father thinning now but he's 61. Had great hair until he was about 55 years old. Mother's father went bald pretty young, I don't know for sure how young. But to my knowledge he never went NW6 or anything. Father's father, thick black hair (NW1) until he died in his late 70's. Only one of my like 10 uncles is NW6, the others have pretty good head of hair. Oh yeah, my mother's thinning... that's where the gene is from. For some reason I think that I will never go past NW5. The reason for that is that I'm thinning in the female pattern. I don't know if there's any truth to that, but I'd like to think it's true.
