Let me first start by saying that I wish I knew a few years ago (or even a few months ago), what I know now. I was taking propecia for about 4 years, and it seemed that my hair was getting progressively worse. I started using minoxidil in the 4th year and felt that it worked well. As a college student, I couldnt' afford to keep using propecia, and continued with minoxidil only. I made that decision about 6-7 months ago. I regret stopping, since it seems to be thinning worse in the back than before. I've decided to start using Proscar (cut into 4) again. Since I used this previously, then stopped, will it have an adverse effect? Can I expect a shedding phase? Also, if I stop and start using minoxidil, will it lose effectiveness? I had periods where I used it off and on, but now it doesn't seem to work as well as it did initially.
