Drinkrum knows exactly what im talking about. Avodart works by completly stopping your sebacious glands from producing oil. Without oil, your skin is gonna wrinkle and crack in a hurry. That is what i would consider a drug causing premature aging.

I did get a prescription off the internet for the avodart. I havent been taking anything else while on avodart except nizoral shampoo. There is not a doubt in my mind this drug cause serious skin problems. If you had what the drug has done to me, you would be upset also and very scared.
You too, would be looking to sue the company if u got the side effects i got because it is gonna cost me thousands of dollars to get laser resurfacing done on my face, chest, shoulders, and back.

They knew the drug caused skin problems, thats why it was cancelled in phase 3 for hairloss.

What i'm saying is, if they had done the right thing and listed it as a side effect like that should of, i would have never takin the drug. They avoided listing that side effect to make more money.

I promise you all, the more people that take the drug and the longer they are on it, will begin to notice more and more what im talking about.

I think i have a case. Just need the money for a lawyer. It's not right to get serious permant side effects from and drug and have to pay BIG bucks just because they didn't list the side effects.

Got any more questions, lets hear them.

I conjecture there are worse side effects to long-term usage of a dual inhibitor like dutasteride than premature wrinkling of the skin. Biz and I talked about possible CNS (central nervous system) effects at length in another thread.

I understand medical literature shows that dutasteride is well tolerated (some studies even show that the incidence of side effects is lower than finasteride -- and that's another matter of debate altogether). But there hasn't been a prolonged study of its effect on the brain and motor activity. Not only are such things hard to test but such a study would require a lot of money. And since dutasteride isn't even meant for young people (the average age of its intended audience is probably close to 60 years old), why bother?

Your side effects should not be permanent. Get off the dutasteride. and things should return to homeostasis.

I've been off avodart for a little over 4 months now and nothing has changed. The scabs still are not healing. The pimples i get are hard like, dried up,(crust-like or feel like little scabs). The pimples are hard, not oily like normal acne. The scabs will stay attached to my skin for weeks to months until i eventually end up knocking the scab off causing pitt scars. I have thick white scars all over my chest, back, and shoulders since starting the drug. I am afraid to take my shirt off around anyone now, no joke! It's that bad... The wrinkles on my face have not gotten any better what so ever since being off avodart for 4 months and a week. Thats why i believe the side effects are permanant. Once the skin breaks and cracks, then its a wrinkle. It's a crease and theres no cure for it. Also have and area where the skin is sunkin in. It's shaped like an oval sort of. It has not gotten any better. And its very noticeable. I am way to young to be experiencing such things. Avodart blocks the Alpha 5, type 1 enzyme that the skin has to have in order to heal wounds, produce collagen, and make the sebacious glands work. Propecia only blocks type 2 enzyme and doesnt effect the skin. If anything, i got extremely oily skin while on propecia. Avodart, my skin got so dry to where i couldn't take it. Many others have reported the same type things. I was on the drug for 16 months, and i think the damage has been done. Its not fair!! Now i have to worry about being scar face, with wrinkles on top of hairloss.

The drug was only tested in older men with prostate problems who would already have wrinkles and wouldnt notice the premature side effects as someone in their early twenties like me.

These aren't just little side effects, they have almost caused me a mental breakdown!!! Had even suicidal thoughts. Just looking in the mirror and seeing how different i look now and how i've aged after being on avodart for 16 months. My body is destroyed. I don't even think laser resurfacing can fix the scars, its that bad. I'm 22, and already have deep ugle looking wrinkles where my smile impressin is and around my eyes. I feel as if i have nothing to live for and my life is over. Its bad enough worring about hair loss. You guys just dont know how bad this drug has f##### me up.

Chipper- you should have researched the drug you took off label BEFORE taking it, then made an informed judgement aware of the consequences. You cannot self medicate then whine when the outcome is not how you imagined. You took a shot, it did'nt work out. Thats life mate. No-one should have to pay you money for YOUR actions failing.

You idiot!!! I would of never taken the drug if they did what they were supposed to do. They did not list any skin side effects. How can i know not to take the drug if they say the drug is overall safe? They just mention mostly the same side effects that propecia mentions. The drug causes major skin problems. They don't mention anything what so ever about anything that deals with the skin in the side effects. I'm sorry i can't predict the future.

If they did the right thing any mention the skin side effects like they are supposed to, and not avoid it to make more money and not scare people off of it, then i would of never taken the drug. IT's that simple son. The drug fucked me up. I would be a fool to just sit there and say "oh well", i'll just pay 5 thousand dollars for laser resurfacing just because they wanted to make more money and avoid listing the side effects. I mean, when scabs are not healing and wrinkls, a places where the skin is sunken in, i don't call those just little tiny ittsy bittsy sides that don't matter enough. You are not in my position so i'll over look your stupid comment.
