Hi Guys and Gals,

I am 26, experiencing hair loss, mainly on top of head, sides still growing nicely etc. etc. I visited my Doctor and ordered a months supply of Propecia, to see how I would take to it and the sideaffects. Today, however, I decided I am going to take Avodart instead, and researched it a bit before I made my decision. There are a few articles on here about Avodart, but not much from guys who are currently using it, so would like to hear from some of you.

Propecia cost me about £60. I logged onto Boots.com (largest UK pharmacy) and they dont even sell Avodart, so I ended up buying it from an online pharmacy and didnt even need a prescription, and it was £100 for 1 months supply. Pretty hefty price tag.

Anyway, I am keen to hear from any of you in the UK or elsewhere who have been on Avodart for a few months or just started.

$90 for generic stuff ...

... i will look into generic, where do u buy yours from?

What results have you experienced after 10 months? Is that your pic on the left hand side below your name?

I just bought Avodart today, so have a months supply of Propecia which is not going to be used which I got prescribed before I found out about Avodart.

IDEA
I could be the first (and the last) to try this: 1 x Propecia every day, and 1 x Avodart 3 times a week, take them both in unison, shaken not stirred, on the rocks. I reckon I will have that ponytail in no time. But could have detrimental effects.

At the end of the day, I dunno how effective all this sh*t is going to be anyway, seems like Propecia does work, but still hair will always be mingey, short and strawy no matter what.

gooooood  No I am very happy I was going very thin at the crown and now I have nearly got it all back. I did have a bit of problem with my hairline when I was on dutasteride but that is now starting to grow back.

I now have hair that looks a lot thicker than it did, before I started. I did have my off months on dutasteride when my hair looked sh*t but you just have to stick with it.

It really did help my confidence when I buzzed all my hair off a few months back. I think give it 2-4 months and my hair will look good again. :) just in time for my trip to Barbados again lol.

Ps I use Nizoral 2%, 2-3 times a week to.

You can still look like that even without treatment if you haven't reached NW5. At least from that actual angle in the picture. But I wouldn't recommend it. ^_^

Generic dutasteride?

This may be a stupid question, but if adovart just hit the marker 3 years ago, how is there already a generic? Also, does anyone use an online pharmacy that they really trust?

I just started taking propecia 2 weeks ago. Why would you guys suggest avodart over propecia? Didn't propecia work for any of you, because it seems that propecia is the most successful hair loss product out there?

And second, why could you not mix these drugs, would your penis fall off or shrivel up?

India and several other countries have different patent laws. Indian law has allowed domestic companies to produce generics well before patent expiry in North America or Europe. In India, you can patent a process but not a substance, so a company can make a generic version of a drug if they use a different process to produce it. Hence Dutas and Duprost (generic Dutasteride) are made slightly differently than Avodart but are the same chemical compound.

However, last week this law was changed in favor of more stringent regulations on generics in India. For details, see:
