I first noticed my hairloss around September 2004. All the sudden massive amounts of hair were coming off in the shower and my sink was becoming riddled with hundred of thin little hairs. I was 19 at the time and had just moved in to a college dorm. It took a few weeks of seeing hairs everywhere for me to find a mirror to angle back and see what my crown looked like.

My father is bald, mother's father was bald, and all but one of my uncles are bald or balding. So my chances of losing hair were high.

I was horrified to see a large thin spot about 2x2 inches. Within a week I was on Rogaine and had made an appointment with a derm. She diagnosed me with Telogen Effluvium and wanted to see me every 6 weeks to calm my fears. Blood tests at the time showed nothing and the classic scapegoat of "stress" was blamed. At the time I bought this, because it was basically what I wanted to hear. After all my hair would grow back in a few months right? Wrong!

A regime of Zinc, Biotin, DHS shampoo, and Rogaine was used to fight this "so called" Telogen Effluvium. It worked fairly well, with the thin spot getting thicker, but at the same time my hairline was pulling back ever so slowly. Going to the derm again I demanded to be put on propecia and the derm admitted that I had male pattern baldness. So in Feb. 2005 I began propecia.

After 3 months, the crown had filled in for the most part and I remain optimistic on the future. I have come to terms that I will lose my hair some day, but would like to postpone this for a few more years if possible.

My current regime:

1mg propecia once a day
1ml Rogaine twice a day
DHS Zinc Shampoo
