Hello everyone I am new here and before commenting on what post i am referring to, please be aware the post I will be referencing is the first sticky on this section of the forum titled "Questions about your hair and what you should do? READ THIS FIRST!" (if you haven't read and don't plan on reading it basically gives you the full regimen of using 3 main items: Propecia, Rogaine, and a well formulated Keto shampoo like Nizoral or Regenepure.)

I want to hop on this regimen that he has have given because i have a medium receding hairline and partial thinning around the hairline and back of my head.. but I am 19 years old. I don't really care to "fix" (lower) my receding hairline as much as i want to thicken up the thinned out portions around the front and back of my head and then try to pause or at least stall my current balding. I have 2 quick questions:

1) Should i start this regimen at this age (does it really matter what age you start? or just when you see balding signs)?
2) If I start should i basically never stop? (because I have heard that once you start things like rogaine then your hair gets dependent on it and if you stop you will lose a bunch of hair even worse then the natural progression.)

(I also attempted to attach 3 current pictures of my hair for reference)

Thank you so much to everyone, hopefully I can try to fix this if I still can.

I think you have the exact same recession as me, maybe better it's hard to tell and guess what! I'm also 19, it sucks.
1) You want to start as early as possible, for the best chance of regrowth, you could easily get back to a NW1. I would in your case only get on propecia or hell wait a year or a couple months untill your 20(hey you could still be growing, if you're a late bloomer). You don't need any of those other products, all they'll do is make your wallet lighter. You're a lucky dude catching it early or else you would have to get on the big three!
2) Yes I would highly recommend you never stop, propecia is a life long commitment. Be wary while you are on that drug you should not have kids.

Be aware of the side effects bud.
Propecia can cause low libido, weak erections and brain fog in rare cases. If you're the lucky one hell you might not experience any of those
Btw how is your dads hair? Any older brothers? Condition on their hair?

sadly my dad does have a norwood 5 with some hair in the front but that is after surgery. his true hair I cant tell you because he tried to have surgery many years ago and they completely messed up on the back and he couldnt grow hair their anymore. other than my dad his brothers both have some hair loss in the family but my moms side of the family is pretty good on hair.. no men other than my grandfathers and they had a decent head of hair for their age.

i dont even know if i should wait just in case im "growing".. i grew from 5'7" to 5'8" from when i was 16-17 years old and then grew from 5'8" to 5'9" from 18-19 years old. and my 20th birthday is August this year so im practically 20 already.

I don't know which is better.. waiting and praying for another inch or catching my male pattern baldness in its earliest stages and trying to reverse/stall it out.

do you think i should wait to grow? As much as I wish I could have a late growth spurt, i doubt it could realistically happen.

Id buy proscar split it into fourths and take it daily. This is the most cost effective way to take propecia. If you get sides cut it down to like half a milligram a day. Nothing else is needed. No minoxidil necessary. Although I would start taking nizoral 2% 3 times a week as ur supposed to take it with propecia 19 is fine, you are done with puberty. I wouldn't start off with weak stuff like keto. If your crown is balding and your dads a norwood 5 you are probably heading for a norwood 5 as well. Just get on finasteride and you wont have to worry about your hair for years. Again, you can never stop taking it or you will lose your hair. Be ready to take this stuff every day from now on, year after year

im not even really sure if nizoral is that important but in the studies done on propecia it is in combination with nizoral so it is best to use it with your finasteride. Should be easy to get a prescription for it if you need one

Bump. i will try to get Nizoral and Proscar (propecia), but is there anything other than Minoxidil that I can use to try to mirror its effects? (possibly without the crazy shedding or the lifelong commitment)
