asian hair

hi, has anyone noticed that women (and sometimes males) asian hair, thins at their part, and around their part only.

i've seen lots of older asian women and their part lines are wider, and everything is a bit thinner on the part and pretty much the part only. it has nothing to do with their hair being tied back and pulled.

maybe it's because their hair is so dark that this is noticeable?

any thoughts would be appreciated, I can't find anything on the net about this.

to elaborate..

my mum is indian, my dad is spanish, and my hair texture is strange, sides incredibly thick and curly, always grows very short (almost like pubes but not as groce!). top is finer, with plenty of thick and thin hairs, but part line has started to thin a little on one side and this is what is working me up.

i also have areas of shorter hairs on noticable on the front of my scalp, some of the shorter hairs are so thick and curly, some are fine and straight, they all have a darker pigment than the rest of my hair. I know that when guys thin they loose their density on top but this really seems like two different types of hair (dramatically) its dark and thick, wavey at the sides, and smooth and straight on the top, and has been this way since I was a kid.

I did put a post up a while ago but not one with as much detail, hope this is acceptable.

wow interesting u post this..i was just sitting behind an asian girl in class whose part was very noticeable and thin around it. I looked at the spanish girl next to her whose hair had no parts at all...i think asians have softer, straighter, thinner hair in general

yeah i've noticed it on old indian women, not that I enjoy checking out, old indian women.

i've noticed really thick hair on my friend (malaysian) but in the frontal centre, there's like a hole!

my hair is very mixed in textture, on my scalp I have very thick wirey hairs, and thinner hairs, there is all kinds of hair. if I was balding, wouldn't it effect the general thickness of most of the hair on my head, although saying this, maybe the finer hairs would get affected first, and the thicker ones later?

above my ears and around the sides of my head its so thick and crap. anyway. having long hair I can hide that mess up. it doesn't grow long, it just grows out about an inch, all thick and wirey. my mum has some very thin 'spot's around her part, but for me this could all be another case of.. male pattern baldness (please god no) who knows. bring on the miracle cure, should be here soon.

anyways. i'm out. if anyone has any info on this it'd be very helpful.

it is one of the 3 or 4 patterns on dr armani's site. I know a guy who thinned like that on both sides even though he only parted it one way.

I dont know why indians are considered asian besides their continental location. I still dont get that to this day. At one time they were considered part of the caucasian race if you can believe that because of the many features they share besides the dark skin.

Either way, i believe asians have the thickest hair. I think that is a published fact. Hispanics and asians would generally have the thickest hair. I am not necesarily including indians in that classification of asian. I mean asian like japanese, chinese, korean, viet, lao, filipino, etc

Filipinos have extremely good genes and very low instances of balding from what i see. They can often have a straight hairline for much of their life.

I'm chinese and my hairline is pretty much intact. I think I'm receding ever so slighty, but just enough for me to notice.

But I seem to be losing hair at the top of my head. It starts at the midscalp area and works it's way back towards the crown. It's weird my hairloss on seems to be concentrated there.

I've noticed that alot of my asian friends also have good hairlines but the are slightly thin in the back area.

I have noticed too that female (and normal non-balding male) asian hair looks "thin" around the part.

Actually it seems to be that asian hair is generally thicker (larger diameter) however the hair is sparse. Since the hair is sparse, the scalp is easily seen at a part.

If you meticulously examine every head of hair within your vision, you begin to notice and catalog everything you encounter, unfortunately. :p
