Are Hats Making My Hair Loss Worse?

I work outside a lot and when the weather is not so great i tend to wear a baseball cap. However i normally have it tilted back rather than just above my eyes, just like the guy in the picture attached.

I just realised today that the brow of the cap and headband cross exactly over my thinning spot just behind my left temple.

I have also noticed that some days my hair can become quite sore feeling and itchy where the head band cuts across my hair. If i start sweating it usually makes it worse.

I also have a habit of lifting off my hat and placing it back on my head. Maybe to wipe sweat off my forehead etc.

A bit of googling and i found that traction alopecia can cause miniturization and thinning.

I am not suggesting my hair loss is solely down to this but i dont think the beating the brow of a cap rubbing on my scalp is doing it any good so i am going to ditch it after today and see if it makes any difference.

Has anyone else found this happening?

Thanks again
