Are hair systems the future? Is the technology improving?

Hi all,

Young guy in mid 20s here. Thinking heavily about going for a hair transplant but have seen systems get more and more popular. Is the technology improving? I understand COVID has had a massive impact but weighing up my options before heading down a surgical route. Do you think more and more guys will make the jump?

Thanks so much

The technology today is top of the line. There is room for improvement with some of the bonds though. Systems in general have come a drastic way when compared to your grandfathers toupee's of the 60's and 70's and even a very long way since Sy Sperling's hair club of the 90's. That being said at the end of the day they will always be what they are from the outsiders looking in... Wigs.

And with that will always come the negative stigma where men wearing hair just isn't fully accepted into society, unfortunately. I wish it wasn't this way and boy do I WISH this were the #1 option for guys instead of hopping on a plane and running into a clinic to get cut up for a surgery that in all honesty probably carries a solid 25% chance of not turning out the way they want, but hey, I can't get all my wishes. I personally am in a similar boat as you and while I'd love a good transplant and to never have to worry about maintenance or bond breaking down on a hot day, if systems were completely acceptable I wouldn't think twice about them. I still will likely try one someday soon, but tell me a guy who thinks he wants to sign up for telling a girl he wears a rug a few weeks into dating some chick he likes.

But, if you have the right mindset, are creative with your hands, and just don't give a F in general if you were ever outed, then I would suggest trying a system before a surgery for sure. Do I think they are "the future"? Yes and no. I mean I do think they will grow in popularity more and more, but I also don't think, at least not anytime soon, that they will have some massive breakthrough to where they break into the real mainstream.

Nw4 is 19 here. Hair system are the last solution I have left even if I'm afraid, afraid that it will be discovered or that the maintenance will ruin my life, that its accentuates my anxiety.

Then a hair system is clearly not for you, and that's fine.

I think as time goes on, and technology improves in all areas (drugs, surgery, and non-surgical repalcement) more guys will opt for the choice that best suits them. However, on the other side of this is a greater push for more acceptance of going bald naturally (not just shaving it off).

Funny i feel the same way but perhaps for different reasons. Sometimes i wish i didn't have the option of transplants and that wigs were the only option, it would make life a little simpler. I still think about about hair transplant's, although after all this time of wearing and thinking about hair transplant's i do wonder whether I'll ever take the plunge and have a hair transplant.

But at the end of the day we all do what we feel comfortable with. Some people would never consider wearing and will see hair transplant's as the answer, others will never want a hair transplant and will shave or find other ways to cover up hair loss.

It is a shame that wearing still has a stigma yet women can go and have tonnes more hair attached to their hair and no-one bats an eyelid, even expensive and non-guaranteed surgery (hair transplant) seems much more accepted that a harmless hair peice which is a bit strange when you think about it you'd think it would be the other way round.

Either way i suppose contradicting my earlier point its good to have options as having just one option would mean some people would always be unhappy.

Well there is also the fact that most people aren't as informed about hair loss and it's options like we are. I would bet that MOST people if sat down and told what hair transplant surgery is like and how a great result is anything but guaranteed and you'll likely need another surgery unless you choose to go on hormone altering medication for life, etc etc, I feel like they would be more accepting of a male wearing hair.

Hey @SD1984. How do you think women feel about finding out that their partner wears a wig/toupee/system?
In a world that's becoming a bit more "accepting", so to speak, I think most women would not have a problem with it and would understand, especially after realizing what your only other options are (multiple surgieries that may not turn out well, horome altering medication for life, trying to roll needles across your skull while looking for 2 new strands of peach fuzz each week, etc.) That being said, understanding or not, there will always be that subconsious feeling of unattractiveness a woman may feel when she finds out her man is wearing hair, and that is in fact the "stigma" we talk about so much. Whether or not she can look past that and see that it doesn't matter much and that you're a great guy anyway, well that depends on some other things, like perhaps how long you both have been dating and how much she may be into you by that time. So, I don't think it's a great idea to drop this news on a woman 2-3 dates into knowing her, lol

Still, I'm in the mindset that if someone I'm dating for a while finds out and then decides me wanting to better myself and confidence instead of looking like a sick alien (yeah I got no Vin Diesel body) then she can go F herself.

We need a revolution. Someone please just advertise hair systems so much that everyone in the world knows about them and they will finally be accepted!

Curtis should try and go on Shark Tank. Honestly though I don't think there are big profit margins at all in the industry.

You know what, I am wearing a hair system for myself. Not other people. I want to feel confident again with my appearance rather than avoid photos, mirrors, or bright lights.

For someone in my 20s, what kind of life is that?

I am very often in middle east. And hair systems don't have any stigma in arabic/asian countries. They are extremely popular there. That's why i want to go this way as well. I think among young people they are fully accepted. People mid 40. from the "old era" seem to have stigma with it. But young people they grow up with a trend. I am full of tattoos. I can remember in the 90s. People had so much problems with it. But take a look now. Even MC donalds workers and police officers are tattooed. People go with time.
Hair transplants are most of the time a waste of money if you are further than nw3. So long story short. In my opinion they are actually a trend that doesn't seem to stop.

In many countries in the Middle East, the guys get their systems done at a salon, out on the open, and their vids get posted online all the time. In Iran, especially popular.. as well as men's makeup!

Your confidence originates from other people's opinions of you.
