Approaching 3 Years On finasteride, Hairline Is Now Taking A Big Hit

Hey guys, just looking for a little insight here. Been on finasteride for a good while, been on min for about 8 months now, also recently started using castor oil, stemox and dermarolling every week.

The last 2 or 3 months have been hell for my hairline. The miniaturisation has been insane, and now my forelock in the middle, which has never worried me before, is rapidly thinning out.

Here's some pics I took a month ago: https://imgur.com/a/RWgbq

The forelock thinning has gotten noticeably worse even since then.

So, basically, finasteride has held up my vertex and crown very well, but my hairline is now skyrocketing and its terrifying to see. What should be my next port of call? RU? dutasteride?

Sorry to read this mate.
I see there is some red in your scalp. Is it possible you have an inflamed scalp? Ever tried ketoconazole?

Apart from that, how old are you? I have a feeling a time comes for some of us when finasteride is not effective anymore. When that time comes for me, I will try dutasteride without a doubt.

I tried nizoral a few times, I remember it made me shed a load, I googled it and found loads of others who had the same and got freaked and dropped it. Maybe I'll revisit it, but the reddening might also be from dermarolling (I'm pale af so redness shows on me for a while)

I'm 23, will be 24 when/if I start dutasteride. Just unsure on the protocol of taking finasteride and dutasteride together

finasteride and dutasteride are substitute in the sense that dutasteride is like finasteride but tries to kill one more type of DHT. So it should not be an addition: just a replacement.

Can you give us some prefin pictures? Cause slowly but surely i become sick of all the "finasteride can not hold the hairline" posts.

What? I never said finasteride can not hold the hairline. I said it isn't holding my hairline. I fully accept that it works on others people's hairlines, and I envy those people. For me, my hairline needs something extra, but my crown looks great

Are you sure the more recently added Min isn't causing the shed? Also 2-3 months is nothing. Give it more time and I bet hair comes back thicker, especially since you're on finasteride. Shedding is a normal part of the hair cycle and hairs will come back if you're on an AA.

You think the min would cause the shed 7/8 months in? It is very rapid so maybe it is a shed.

I do have a patch on my left temple (highlighted in the first pic) that keeps shedding and growing back, the hairs that grow in are thick and grow long. Not sure what's going on there but hopefully it's good haha.

Hopefully you're right, thanks for the insight brother!
