I started using 5% minoxidil about two weeks ago as prescribed by my dermatologist, and for the past few days I’ve noticed more hair on my palms during shower. However, I noticed when I run my hands through the center of my scalp hairs also stick to my palms, even though I didn’t apply any minoxidil there. Is this a cause for concern, or is it working as normal?

Normal...minoxidil still goes partly system or in your neighbour areas. It even affects the bear or the face skin, even you don't apply it there

Thanks, that's a relief. I also have some normal looking hairs shedding along with the expected thin, wispy hairs, this is par for the course right?

Hate to say it, but you're probably still balding from androgens.

So, in other words, your hair is going it's genetic course.

dont worry man, it's just a shedding, usually start after the first 2 weeks. it will regrowth more thicker after 3-4 mon.ths. since the drugs go sistemic it can affect the whole scalp. if you can add finasteride 1 mg a day you will have better results and you will able to keep gains more longer

Unfortunately as I'm only turning 17 this year, I can't take finasteride yet. Do you know if I should be shedding some thick hairs along with thin hairs, as mentioned above?

@HLY

Shedding should only be a one time thing with Minoxidil.

You are smart for using it on your hairline. You don't need to put it on places
that aren't balding yet (such as your vertex).

That said, our bodies generate more androgens in our teenage/early twenties than any other
time in our lives.

So, your hairloss might be less as you get older. You really cannot judge the issue
now. But it might get worse to, unfortunately.

Good luck.

1 year of difference

Maybe a newb question here but I'm just past my first month with minoxidil liquid and I have shed a TON of hair. Short, wispy, long and thick. My question is once a hair falls out how long does it take to grow back in ? Is it three months ? Shedding still hasn't slowed does this mean the hair I lost from minoxidil today will take 3 months before it starts to sprout back through ?

could be just a minoxodil shed, where your hairs are transitioning from growth phase, to resting phase, back to growth phase, and youre correct about 3 months. Although it is possible minoxodil is doing nothing and your rate of balding is just picking up, which happened in my case.

? Not sure I understand.

You will have to keep using the medication, of course.

Sorry, I wish that were true.

I used Minoxidil since I was twenty. It didn't give me permanent results.

Now I'm using any sh*t that can grow back my hair (I even used topical estrogen for a while,
until I started growing man boobs, then I quit it).

If you want permanent hair regrowth gains, you need to add Finasteride, or something like that.
