Applying minoxidil to bald areas

I spread the minoxidil around with my fingertips on the temples, making sure that I not only get the bald areas but the beginning of the hairline as well.

when you apply it to bald areas is there still a chance you can shed hair from other areas of the head?

I think this question has been asked before, but is it alright to apply minoxidil to your scalp when your hair is wet, like after you get out of the shower and dry your hair a bit with a towel?
My hair is longer and I think I would have to wet my hair first and comb it back to be able to apply it to the scalp good.
I don't even have minoxidil yet, but I'd like to know if I decide to get it.

Also, is there a certain kind of minoxidil that is best (like a certain brand that won't drip down on your face) if you only really want to use it on your hairline?
