I saw a video about a type of base which is not lace or skin, but it's a prosthetic material which looks just like the scalp. They call these 'cranial prosthetic hair systems'. Has anyone tried them, and how do they rate compared to other base types in terms of realism, durability etc?

Give these a miss. The base does look just like scalp, but the material is really heavy-duty by the standards of other hair system bases - thick and impermeable, which means hot and sweaty. Also, because the base is so thick it is very visible at the hairline, which means if anyone sees the hairline it's very obvious you are wearing something. You are far better to stick to the standard base materials - lace or thinskin.
