Anyone regrow after Avodart shed?

I'm on brand name Avodart 0.5mg once a week in addition to 1.25mg finasteride daily. I will begin my seventh week of treatment this Friday.

I was pretty confident trying this dose since it was so low I figured a shed would not be significant, but I'm definitely losing hair where my most aggressive thinning and miniaturization is at the front mid of my scalp. (I am a diffuse thinner and have no lost/thinned hair in my crown and never have.)

I am in fact shedding significantly. It began probably week 4 and I am almost done with week 6 now. Because it is occurring where I am already thin it's going to be come noticeable sooner than if it were somewhere it was not so thin. I'm a little startled such a low dose has me shedding so soon.

I'm somewhat encouraged because this is where I need maintenance and regrowth so I believe the treatment is working, however lets say my experiment is a failure and I'm just losing hair and I never see regrowth and I end up quitting. How many of you dutasteride users out there have regrown hair you shed on dutasteride? Is it permanent? OR somewhat permanent? Or something that more or less restores itself once Avodart is out of system?

You need to know your DHT and testosterone levels. Otherwise you will have no idea, what's going on.

I'm taking generic dutasteride 0.5mg every day, i'm in my fourth week. My hair loss stopped about 2 weeks in, the hairs are now really strong and I am shocked when I see 2-3 hairs on my hand when shampooing, which I shampoo every day twice a day. I have never gone through this shed that every one mentions. I've never experienced it with any of the hair loss medications i've taken in my life. My only advice is to stick to it.

After almost 9 years on finasteride I'm now taking generic dutasteride 0.5mg every day since January 2013. Since the beginning of May I'm shedding like hell!

I tried dutasteride at .5mg EoD about 2 years ago. Got the shed from HELL! I could LITERALLY see my hairline thinning every day. Stopped taking dutasteride after 2 weeks because I couldn't take it, mentally, anymore.

However, do some google searches. Many people reported a crazy shed at first, but that everything+more came back. I just couldn't soldier on through that period.

Sometimes I think sheds are just caused from Telogen Effluvium due to a major change in hormonal balances, I guess it's more likely with dutasteride. Telogen Effluvium over the long time is neither good nor bad, I guess in a way it gives hairs a chance to grow back normally that we're partially miniaturised before.
