Anyone Here With Low Dht Levels Prior To Finasteride? How Did It Work Out?

Hey guys. I'm just wondering if it is dangerous to take finasteride if you already have low DHT levels.

I am not sure wether I do or not. The last time I took a hormone test was last year, and everything turned out to be ''normal''.

I'll be going for another test this week. What do I do if it comes back with low DHT levels, or high for that matter? Do I still start finasteride?

Thanks guys

You just need to decide to take it or not take it. You have all the info on the drug but you keep making excuses on why you should not use it. If you are that worried then do NOT use it.

Except I don't know everything about the drug. A simple google search has almost no positive comments about using finasteride if you already have low dht levels, which is why I'm asking.

I've been wanting to take finasteride for almost a year now, but after reading that it has fucked up the hair of people it really makes you question the decision.

I'm sorry if my posts are repetetive I hope youy understand my situation lol

DHT is tissue specific which means 5AR converts the endocrine hormone Testosterone, which like Estrogen and Progesterone has body wide effects, into DHT to act on the specific tissue. For example, the hair follicle. Low serum DHT does not play a major role in the actual tissue disorder. So DHT could still be an issue in the hair follicle if you have normal or low serum DHT.

Also I would trust the clinical studies done on Finasteride, NOT the people on this board or other places on the internet.

Okay. Thank you for the info. So based on what you've said it doesn't really matter if you have low/high DHT. Do you still recommedn for me to take a bloodtest before purchasing finasteride? And do you happen to know if it is legal to purchase finasteride online? I live in a european country where you need prescription btw.

What’s more important: keeping your hair or avoiding some future, undefined, hypothetical health risk?

On a serious note, what's your point though? There are thousands taking finasteride everyday without any issues. Why can't I be one of them?

You missed my point. I recently passed the year mark on finasteride and my only regret is not starting sooner.

I'm 19. Would you have taken finasteride if you were my age?

I’m enormously vain so probably yes. I was snorting boat loads of cocaine at your age (I don’t anymore) so a pill to save my hair would have been nothing to me.

Just seems like the low test/dht population have the highest chance of having the itchy scalp/faster rate of thinning reaction to propecia. This possibly makes up a large chunk of propecia “non-responders”, so up to a 20% chance actually. That plus the atleast 4% chance of getting the more well known side effects

I don't know if I have LOW DHT/Testosterone. I doubt it since I have a thick voice, masculine face, frame, extremely high libido etc. I was just wondering what the impact would be for SOMEONE (not specifically me) in general with sides etc.

I am going to take a hormone test this upcoming week.

I think then it would probably be better for you then.

It also depends how fast your hair is going too. If it’ll be gone in a year or so anyway we’ll then it’s worth a try, who cares if it goes faster
