Anyone have results with Frontal Loss?

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum. I've read all the FAQ's and looked for some old posts and not really seeing an answer to the question. I'm 24, just started experiencing some loss in the front part of my head along with receeding temple area. I was wondering if rogaine 5% would assist at all in just stopping this progression? I am not all too concerned with growing hair back cause..hey...we all get old some day...but I'd like to keep it looking ok.
So yes, any general suggestions for work specifically for the front? Everything I read about the treatments talk about working on the "vortex," but I don't have any problems back there. Any quick replies? Thanks guys!

I think either propecia or minoxidil will work. For whatever reason it's harder to grow it back on the front. I'm seeing slight but noticable results in the front and excellent results on the back from using "The Big 3" which is Propecia, Rogaine, and Nizoral.

How much does that "Big 3" cost you per month?

Maybe $65.00 a month......But I use Propecia Rogaine. If you use generic finasteride and minoxidil it would probably cost 1/3 that amount per month.
Still $65 a month ain't that much. I'm sure a lot of people spend that amount or more on a cigarette habbit.

What about using Proscar instead of Propecia? The whole...splitting it into 5th's...anyone try that or know anyone who was able to properly do that?

Splitting into 1/4's seems to be the way people use proscar. 1/5's would probably be too difficult.

Cool site Cassin. I'm going to forward that link to my father who's been smoking since his 20's. He's in his 60's now and still smokin....Alot.

Hey BadHairDecade, have you had any side effects with Propecia? I'm just trying to find out the risks seeing as I want to start it soon...

Hmmm, the info on Propecia said that taking 1.25 mg could be dangerous...the people who have split it into 4ths have not had a problem?
Also, thanks for the posts, and congrats on all the improvement in your own hair!

bupolo.....THink about it
Propecia is the same exact thing as Proscar. Proscar is 5mg pill that treats BPH and it's been around for quite a while. One of the side effects of Proscar happened to be hair growth....This is how Propecia was born. If 5mg's is safe I'm sure 1.25 is plenty safe. :D

Well yes it makes sense, maybe it didn't say dangerous, maybe just that the amount would not be as beneficial. Ok, so 1.25 is ok huh? Also, when applying Rogaine twice a day, does that mean you have to wash your hair twice a day too?

So I have a styling question:
Does putting the Rogaine/Rogaine Substitute in your hair affect its manageability? Meaning, does it make it all heavy and damp or what? I just know with other "scalp" treatments they really leaves a heavy residue on the hair and makes it difficult to do anything with.

Not for me....I usually towel dry my hair pretty well, then apply minoxidil. Let it sit in for about 1/2 hour to an hour then blow dry it. Doesn't seem to leave any residue for me.

I have no problem applying minoxidil at all. I towle dry my hair when i get out of the shower, just so that it isnt "dripping" wet, and apply htee minoxidil and let it air dry for about 45 minutes. I usually run a brush through my hair a few times while it's drying, so it looks smoother when its dry. Hope that helps a bit. Give it time, and watch the results unfold before your eyes.

For me it does, I have always had fine/ blonde hair and any product I put in it makes alot of hairs stick together and looks terrible in daylight. . I've realized that when I keep my hair short about an 1 1/2 inches its more manageable even with the rogaine. . .although I personally would wait till it drys somewhat before styling.
