It was my understanding that after your initial stoppage of minoxidil, you will lose above and beyond where you would normally be if you had never used minoxidil. However, after the initial period, you will infact recover to the point of which you would have been if you had never started minoxidil in the 1st place.

What about this old chesnut - does anyone care to comment?

"...It appears that Rogaine...causes a tremendous amount of shedding in all patients upon stoppage. Of real concern is that this shedding is typically above and beyond what one would have normally gained through any treatment response. This phenomena is clinically termed loss of “minoxidil dependent hairâ€

I have been taking rogaine for more than 10 months now on the temples and hairline. I think rogaine is causing me to recede more. I am going to drop rogaine gradually as it is not helping me to regrow what I want back.

I believe it is rogaine that is causing the recession because I did not have recession before starting it. I was just using it to maintain because I was a diffuse thinner and wanted to nip it in the bud should the hairline start going as well.

I do not want to continue to apply a drug which is not giving me the results I want and does not seem to be helping.

Peace

Ah, how history repeats itself! This very same Minoxidil issue was debated extensively about nine months ago on this site. Pull my posts for more information.
