I've been on brand name propecia for about 5 weeks now.
Last couple of weeks I've found myself waking up in the mornings with an irritable stomach, occasionally nausea, and the need to immediately evacuate my bowels (which is less firm than previously).
This subsides after an hour or so, although I've also noticed a general decrease in appetite.

I pop my pill first thing in the morning, often on an empty stomach, so for the next week or so am going to try taking it at night and with food to see if it makes a difference (assuming the finasteride is the cause).

Anybody got any other ideas to help with this?

I can't say I've ever noticed any change with my bowel habits. For that to persist for a couple of weeks, I would definitely go to you GP

http://www.ehealthme.com/ds/propecia/ibs After a little research it appears the symptoms I've had match with IBS which is a very rare side effect of finasteride (25 out of 4,000 odd here).
The half life of finasteride is about 4 days isn't it? I'm going to try coming off it for a week and see if it clears up.
If so I guess that's my fight against hairloss lost.
