Any Point To Taking finasteride With dutasteride..?

Taking dutasteride pretty much ever other day now, and on the other days I take finasteride (but don't take them together). Hair looks good everywhere except the left temple, which has receded ~1 inch and completely thinned out to the point of bald. Pretty much a quarter sized (maybe a little bigger) bald spot when I pull my hair back. I believe dutasteride has caused this, or at least made it worse. I'm hoping, praying, crossing my fingers and knocking on wood that this is temporary.

Should I add finasteride back onto my dutasteride days? Or is this pointless?

It's pointless from a DHT inhibition perspective. But there was a review which suggested that finasteride targets some varieties of the enzyme that dutasteride doesn't. And vice versa with plenty of overlap. You could trial finasteride for a few months with dutasteride. If you see no difference, drop the finasteride.

Thanks I'll try that. Luckily finasteride isn't that expensive.

Ive started dutasteride and take 0.5mg day. Im windering if i should take it every other day too due to half life of the drug.

If you take it eod then it will inhibit less DHT when it's in steady state than if you take it every day. Should be a bit more than finasteride but not nigh and day. It may be enough though.

As for Wolf Packs comment, somebody posted a topic here recently with a study indicating that there are 2 or more variants of 5 alpha reductase, and finasteride seems to be more effective against one variant so I would never drop finasteride, using both is best, finasteride is cheap as chips so no reason not to use it.

That topic suggests that in ter
S of hair counts, finasteride and dutasteride get roughly the same results but dutasteride gets you there's faster. An interesting hypothesis. dutasteride definitely blocks more DHT than finasteride at equivalent doses though.

Are hair counts dose dependent? Or is it just a matter of dose getting you the same results faster? I'm guessing it's the former to a certain degree

While many of us in early stages of male pattern baldness wait for Brotzu's lotion and the subsequent blockbusters (not setting the bar high), I've been thinking to start microdosing both in topical form. There is a doctor in my country who prescribes lipossomised dutasteride in gel form as well as the old FF gel. If I could get a prescription of a gel consisting in very low % of dutasteride + finasteride I would give it a try ( since I wouldn't use flutamide). I am very aware of the limitations and failures in topical anti-androgens attempts, but...I haven't seen as many exaustive comments about topical dutasteride lipossomes as we have for topical finasteride. Maybe there is some synergistic effect worth trying, but I honestly don't know...There is also the idea of including 17-alpha-Estradiol, which is also easely available where I live. Wouldn't try this triad before trying @Swoop ' s lotion though!
