Any Point In Taking Supplements To Block DHT?

I'm not a finasteride man, so don't fill this thread with 'just take propecia/finasteride etc.' 'cos it's not really the thread to discuss it.

Basically, I was led to believe a while back that taking supplements such as Advecix/Advecia/Whatever they're called, the ones which contain mostly Saw Palmetto & Green Tea extract etc. would help with combating hair loss. I currently use Regenepure shampoo and Lipogaine Minoxidil to tackle my issues, so I was wondering is it beneficial in the slightest to continue buying these supplements? I've personally never noticed any difference so I was wondering if anybody else has?

Also, I've seen studies that show Saw Palmetto does reduce DHT, if so why aren't Saw Palmetto supplements mentioned more frequently on these forums as 'must haves'.

Considering how expensive these 'hair loss solution' supplements are, I'm leaning to towards not wasting any more of my money. However, if people have seen results due to Saw Palmetto, maybe it would be more cost effective to just buy pure Saw Palmetto supplements instead?

WITH an oral anti androgen like propecia, dutasteride, finasteride, spironolactone, MSM helps to reduce the shed. By itself not likely but with other things yes, just start low like 1000mg and with vit c and 2 full glasses of water. It reduced my hair fall by half with other things. Also do a vit B with Biotin. Again means nothing unless used with other things.

Curns you do have a point. I did a bunch of undergraduate research on Benign prostatic hyperplasia and male pattern baldness. Supplements are proven to work. Saw palmetto has been proven to inhibit both type 2 and type 1 dht. So for some people finasteride, which only inhibits type 2 dht, will complain of sides such as low libido when starting saw palmetto because maybe their type 1 dht was at normal levels. Green tea has been proven to work as well. I'm telling you tho, supplements don't have near the strength of drugs and if your balding is aggressive it is worth it to get on finasteride. If its slow and gradual and you don't care too much, pick up all the supps you want that have been proven to help hairloss and give them a go.

For the sake of argument, let's rank the treatments on a scale of 1-100, and we'll put finasteride at 100 since it's the gold standard at this point. Green Tea and Saw Palmetto would probably come in around the 10 to 15 range, if that.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think type-1 and type-2 only refers to the 5AR hormone. I believe 5AR-1 and 5AR-2 (3 as well) all create the same DHT molecule. It's just that the enzymes exist in different quantities in different tissues in the body, like type 1 exists in the brain and type 2 doesn't.
