Kirkland is the same as Regaine. I think they're even made at the same factory.

but y is there a big difference at the price?

It's what economists and marketers call second degree price discrimination and it is in evidence for a vast range of products, from batteries to cereals.

The theory behind it is that profits are maximised when each customer pays the maximum they are willing to pay for a product. Regaine is pitched as a premium product, with all the associated marketing and glossy packaging. It attracts people who are willing to pay a premium for peace of mind (or perhaps people who are to busy to research alternatives). Kirkland is pitched at those who wouldn't pay Regaine prices but want Regaine.
