I know that the hair on the sides of our heads are not susceptible to DHT, which is why hair transplants work in the first place. But I also know that we don't *fully* understand the mechanism by which DHT kills the hairs/follicles on the scalp, else finasteride would work for 100% of us.
What I am wondering is if it is a combination of skin type + susceptible hair follicles. And if so, could we graft skin from another part of the body, say where no hair grows at all like our feet or something, and put the hairs from our scalp (the ones that will eventually die from DHT) onto that skin, and put that skin + hairs back onto our scalp.
Just curious what the doctors would say to this.
