Hello all,
Long-time lurker, first time poster here. So I asked my doctor to prescribe Proscar instead of Propecia, so that I could cut it into pieces and save money. He wouldn't prescribe it, saying that a Merck rep had told him that the active ingredient is not distributed equally within the pill, so that even if you manage to split it into equal parts, you may not in fact be receiving any medication in the piece you swallow on a given day.
Has anyone else heard this before? What do you think? My initial reaction was that of course the rep would say this, since they're trying to safeguard their profits. But then, on reflection, it does makes sense ...
Thanks.
PS, I'm not trying to alarm anyone, I would just appreciate your thoughts. I know from reading the boards that a number of you have been splitting with no problems.
