hey there, I am 24 and noticed my hairline may be thinning out?

I posted here once about my crown but I was relieved with what you guys said about it.

Here is my hairline under very harsh lighting.

Been sort of obessessing over this so I can’t tell if I have a reason to or not

Thanks so much!

I think it is maturing.. Do you have nearly same hairline before?

Yeah, it realy hasn’t changed that much since I’ve been a kid.

My crown and the reat of it seems very thick and full. Hairdressers typically comment on it positively

It is slightly receded. You would most likely be classified as a "Norwood 1.5."

The difference between maturing and hairloss reminds me of the difference between a tumor and a cancer.
A tumor can be kept in check. It grows but slowly. It generally does not kill you, unless you do not treat it.
A cancer is a fast growing tumor that will likely kill you if you don’t try to stop it with very invasive methods.
Looks like your hair can be salvaged.

So I should likely take rograine? Or see a derm?

I can see lots of miniaturisation at the hairline, this is straight male pattern baldness and definitely not a "maturing" hairline

What are the first lines of defense for stuff like this?

I have been monitoring it for the last 3-4 months with no real change

Be that it may be, I can certainly see that the hairline in the pictures is in recession mode, and I don't see that changing. A medication like Finasteride is the only thing that will give you the best chances of maintaining what you have, which IMO would be a big win :)

I think keeping what i have would be good too, I was considering rograine or biotin before finasteride.

Looks good to me. I think any hairline scrutinized enough by people there's always gonna be someone saying you are in the throes of male pattern baldness. Looks like you just have a mature hairline right now. But at your age just eat right and take supplements. This is not to say you won't lose hair eventually because despite what some think every human if they live long enough will experience thinning. Cannot avoid it. Of course those with an overabundance of hair won't notice it as much or care. For now though enjoy your 20's man. They go quickly.

The old ‘maturing hairline’ theory. Always comes cropping back up :).

I started looking it up and apparenlt approx 10% of most people’s hair is in miniaturization.

Idk I think I may go to a derm to get a better opinion, or take something like bioton to help it out.

A lot of this stuff is just like splitting hairs

It is. Hair changes from year to year. I'm not sure if it's even worth going to a dermatologist right now. But yeah use supplements. Just always keep in mind that it will probably thin at some point. It's sucks I know but I was aware of the reality of it when I was like 14. My hair type is fine, dry and curly. I knew that just a little loss would show big time as I got older. Actually have more hair than my father did at my age but it has become a losing battle. I just accept that it's aging and there is not much I can do. It's like skin. Skin loses its elasticity as we age. Well hair even if one doesn't lose much will still change in texture etc. There are very very few people out there that have a great head of hair into their old age. My mechanic who was in his mid sixties, dyed his hair black, combed it in a ducktail and had a juvenile hairline. His hair was as thick as a young Elvis. Yet his son was balding pretty bad. It's like winning the lottery to have a head of hair like that In your sixties. But for most people it's just not the reality.

A mature hairline means you have lost your temple hair during puberty . This is a real thing. Most men do not go through life with their juvenile hairline. Men like Ronald Regan are rare.

Aye, losing your temple points is true with most Caucasian men.

I agree but that still means you have some DHT sensibility present in your hair, so that's still a bit of concern
