So do you guys know if Betam Is good for hair growth?
I will, as I've been getting wrong from a few years now. Hopefully someone one day gets it right here in the forum. Scientists are f*****g sh*t on this subject to be frank...

I wouldn't go that far. Between the limited budget they get allocated to treat a cosmetic issue and high regulations to experiment anything with beside mice the output can only be limited.

Why, after 50 years of minoxidil's existence, there are only two studies where they want to find out if minoxidil is an anti-androgen or not?

Have you read this study https://www.oncotarget.com/article/1886/? Their study begins with the fact that the mechanism of minoxidil in the treatment of AR-related disease,Androgenetic Alopecia is unknown and they hypothesized that minoxidil affects AR receptors.And their hypothesis was allegedly confirmed.But they did not explain why minoxidil causes hair growth even on the beard where hair grows through the activation of androgens. https://patents.google.com/patent/EP2991653B1/en they claim that minoxidil treat acne

I Highly doubt it is antiandrogen, it is a drug that was used it oral for decades . Many even for hair loss. I even use it orally for hair loss back in early 2000s ( yep, nothing new oral ) without any sign of antiandrogenic activity . When I tried oral spironolactone ( yep , young and stupid ) the antiandrogen activity was clear ( for example, on gyno development ) .

Pay attention to Fig. 4c They compare Bicalutamide,different concentrations of minoxidil(which are very high) and Tolbutamide on suppression of Androgen receptors. Tolbutamide, a potassium channel blocker that has been reported to antagonize minoxidil effects on hair growth ,suppressed AR transcriptional activity in a reporter assay in HHDPCs, as shown in Fig. 4C (compare lane 6 to lane 2).
Tolbutamide is in a class of medications called sulfonylureas. Tolbutamide lowers blood sugar by causing the pancreas to produce insulin. It does not treat Androgenetic Alopecia in any way and does not cause any hair growth, but for some reason it suppresses AR in the same way as Minoxidil.Really??

In late 2012, the two groups realized that their investigations were linked. The CIMED scientists discovered their mice models with mutated potassium channels had Cantu-like symptoms. At about the same time, the clinicians’ genetic studies, conducted in collaboration with a group of Dutch researchers, led them to a gene called ABCC9.
“That’s not the same gene we were studying; we had mutated a gene called KCNJ8 in our mice,” Nichols said. “But we knew that proteins from each of these two genes come together to form a single potassium channel, and we now know that mutations in either gene can cause Cantu syndrome.”
Due to these mutations, the potassium channels remain open, making it harder for blood vessels to contract, a step that helps the circulatory system increase blood pressure when needed.
Based on what they’ve learned from studying Cantu syndrome patients, Washington University researchers now know more about how drugs such as Rogaine or minoxidil stimulate hair growth.
“Because of the gene mutation they carry, these patients are experiencing the equivalent of a chronic overdose of minoxidil,” Nichols said.
The clinic’s discoveries may not only help develop appropriate treatments for the cardiovascular problems and excess hair growth seen in Cantu and in other conditions, but also aid in the search for improved drugs that promote hair growth.
They don't have any problems with hormones or fertility.They hit puberty normally.

Betamethsone 0.05% was use it in the original formulation by Dr Lee , Xandrox . A great product . It will not cause hair loss.
