According to wiki article here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annual_pha ... drug_sales
Finasteride Annual Sales stood at 752 Million USD (Propecia = 429 + Proscar 323)

That makes it one of the top drugs in terms of sales....note that we are not talking about generic drugs here only Merck's Propecia and Proscar.

If you divide that amount with a single persons annual spending on propecia you will get number of persons using propecia. (I dont know the cost of the drug in US)

You have to realize how expensive Propecia is, though. It's expensive as crap.

well....let us know the cost of propecia at some local pharmacy, then we can calculate how many persons are using Propecia.

Drugstore.com sells it for approximately $185 for 90 pills if I remember correctly. When I ordered my first 90 pill bottle at Giant it was over $200 and around $230 to $240 if I remember. Finasteride costs me close to $720 a year. I have recently decided to alternate the doses slightly to help deal with side effects. 3 days of the week are .5 mg with the other 4 being 1 mg. I may even decide to drop down to .5m as I have recently decided to use minoxidil on the entire scalp due to a massive amount of shedding that I experienced after sun poisoning and a brief use of prednisone. I've thrown in some mino muck to act as a topical antiandrogen as well.

There is no easy way to determine how many people are using propecia. The prices range rather wildly among pharmacies and who knows what kind of dosing scheme people are using. My doctor suggested cutting down to .5 mg after the first year of use because it is nearly as powerful as the 1 mg dose. My doctor seemed to know quite a bit about hair loss in general, and other doctors may suggest similar things.

well atleast we can estimate a rough figure....

750 000 000 / 750 = 1 000 000

~1 000 000 propecia users (give or take 50000)
