Am I too young? What should I do? (PICS)

Hey guys,
I'm 25 years old and I'm thinning in the crown area and a little bit in the temples. I've been on propecia for over a year and now I'm taking Avodart. I don't have any bald spots yet but the hair in my crown area is thinning diffusely to the point where it is really bothering me and destroying my confidence. Getting comments from people and things like that. Overhead a group of girls talking ín Spanish about how Im balding in the back. I guess they didn't thitnk I could understand. Now I wish I didn't!! :p
Would it be very unwise to get a transplant in the crown? Most people seem to think it is the least important but it happens to be my biggest problem area. Also, as I still have hair in that area, what is the likelihood that my existing hair will be destroyed due to shock loss?
I have realistic goals and I don't expect to recover the hair I had when I was 20, I just don't want the thinning to be so damn obvious. I think 1000-1200 grafts around 40-45 cm/inch2 would be more than enough as my hair is very dark and coarse. I don't want to waist my 20's staring in multiple mirrors at the back of my head, but I also don't want to make a terrible mistake I'll regret down the road. At the same time, the future looks bright with HM in maybe 5-10 years so even if the transplant only lasts me 10 years my options will be greater by then. Don't ya think?
I don't think my hairloss is TOO aggressive as the front is quite good and hasn't really changed much since I started propecia and now I'm on avodart, rogaine, and nizoral so....I donno what to do. This is completely consuming my life. I wish I could just grow the hell up and shave my head, but I'm only 25 fer cryin out loud.
A few of the top docs, Armani and Hasson and Wong, are very close to where I live.
thanks for any advice,
Balth

I would not rush for a transplant just yet. Your age is borderline and from what you say it is not too aggressive. You are on dutasteride, which is about as potent as you can get. Give it a chance, it should hold off hairloss for you. I see you are using Rogaine, hopefully its the foam, if not get on it. This should do the trick to give you some additional hairs and avoid a transplant for quite a while.

I strongly recommend Rogaine for your situation. Please post some pics of your balding crown so we can further assess your situation.

OK , here are some pics

Its really weird. I have a strong cowlick with thinning above and below it. Much worse on the right side. I was on rogaine for around 8 months maybe and then stopped it when I went overseas to study. Thats when things got really bad. I'm back on the goop (the foam) but I don't expect it grow anything back. What are my options in terms of a transplant? Obviously I'll give rogaine anothe 6-8 months to see what happens but my hopes are not high. Not worried about the front yet, although my temples are uneven as hell.

No hair transplant! Too risky b/c of your age.

Go on the big three: Avodart/propecia/rogaine foam and nizoral for a few yrs and see how it goes.

Not only because of his age, but also because his hairloss is not even very severe at all. If he was 50, I'm sure we would still all tell him that he shouldn't get an hair transplant.

Just try some rogaine to complement your finasteride.

You will feel even more self concious when they comment on your scars and unatural apearance. As hard as it is hairloss (sucks). Transplants can be much, much worse.

mahair..... that depends on what Doctor you go to.... your chances decrease of that happening if you go to Armani, Hasson and Wong, Dr. Cole, etc...
i went to MHR...... it happened

Haley you are right. But I ALWAYS er on the side of caution. I know you wonder what the experience would have been like had you gone to Armani in the first place, much like I do after going to Shapiro (after my MHR butcher job). The fact of the matter is that there is too much hype and too many guys getting messed up for me not to play devils advocate. If can make someomeone think twice I feel like all I went through is not in vain.
P.S. If your avitar is how you look now thats great!

haleystudios how bad was your hairloss and how old were you when you went to Armani? I know I'm too young (25) but it sucks that it seems like I have to go proper bald before I can get a hair transplant. I need my hair now.
If I wait say 2 or 3 years and things don't get that much worse, I think I'll be paying a visit to Armani or Hasson and Wong. I donno though.
By the way that pic of you does look great, if thats what Armani can do then I'll go to him. Did you have any trouble in the crown or just the front?
