Hello all. I am fairly new to this website and I am thinning pretty badly. I see they are starting to come out with products to grow new hair, but i would love to maintain my hair otherwise those products are non beneficial. I tried propecia and get sides. Is there anything else that truly works or if you do not have propecia you cannot save hair?

yep! without finestaride or some other way to block DHT you are screwed.
minoxidil is excellent but have to stay on it consistently for life.

You could also try Dutasteride, or one of the experimental topical treatments. finasteride and dutasteride are the sure fire ways though.

Man this sucks. It keeps getting worse. I still can get away with what i ot, but in a few years it will all be gone. Is there anything currently in testing that looks promising to keep hair. What about ru is that stuff for real?

You need the big 3 always, even perhaps on smaller dosages to reduce the side effects.

But finasteride/Propecia and minoxidil are always needed. nizoral shampoo not so much id say... but its a big 3 and only thing really prooven to work well.

I went off all treatments for 6 months and can see without continued meds it would all just be washed away down the sink hole.
So keep it all going and reduce meds if sides occur.

Yeah it's just scary hearing about all them lawsuits. I get testicle ache with propecia. I talked to my urologist and dermatologist and they said it goes away, but I hate it. Does that cb or ru stuff work and is it known to be less dangerous? I am just lost on all this stuff sorry

Yeah welcome to the club who in their right mind would want to make significant long term change to their hormones I mean really even if the studies show its safe for however long a period of time. I might just let nature run its course since its going slowly I would rather not play with my chance of prostate cancer even if current studies show its okay.
Without propecia though you might win a battle but you will certainly lose the war.

Or he could hold onto his hair until better treatments come out.

If you are basing what you do, or don't do on the off chance it may have long term problems no one has reported, and studies don't confirm you should stop taking any medication at all.
