hi I wanted to post this because for the last couple of years i’ve been worried that my hairline is receding. my hairline is higher on one side then the other however it has always naturally been higher (i’ve noticed that my hairline has been at least asymmetrical since i was 10 so im guessing it’s naturally like that) but im worried that it might be increasing and getting worse. i am 17 now and i hope to maybe take a medication or something once i turn 18. also my dad and most of the men on his side of the family are bald, however on my mums side (how i especially take after in terms of appearance and hair) most of the men still have hair until they become elderly. most people have told me that i’m being paranoid but i was wondering if i could get some advice here. also i do feel as if the photos kind of exaggerate and expand the size of my forehead so it might look bigger then it actually is.

Start taking finasteride 1 mg per day, at least you'll save what you have.

To avoid guesswork, get tested for testosterone and estradiol before taking finasteride. After a month of taking finasteride, get tested again for testosterone and estradiol. Estradiol levels should increase slightly.

are you sure my hairline is that bad? it’s been uneven like that since i was a child i don’t think it’s that big of a forehead but the people on here have told me that it’s really not good. also my hair is still very thick and shows no sign of thinning.

i am intending to transition though, i want to start taking estrogen as soon as i turn 18, but i wanted to know how long do you think it will take for me to start balding (i’ll probably be on estrogen before it happens but i wanted to know)

are you sure though because a lot of people including some of my family members still have a considerable or a full amount of hair even though they are 50+ years old

You don't understand! The hairline will recede. Overall, the density will be maintained up to a certain point, but it will also degrade.

If you are transgender, you can take estrogen, you will not suffer from the effects of testosterone, since your main hormone will be estrogen.
