Hi guys,

Thank you for viewing my first post! I will keep this short and to the point.I've noticed the past month that my scalp feels a bit itchy sometimes and that I've got this patch on the back of my head, I have no idea how long this has been here. My temples haven't receded at al however. I am sick with worry as I am only 18. If you need further photos please just ask. Please be honest. Thank you!

Not sure what you the first post is referring to. I swear, I am NOT trolling. It's half 4:30 am here in the UK and I cannot sleep because I am so worried...

My father's hair has receded substantially, but not crown balding. That's all I know, I never met my grandfathers. What should I do at this point?

If you have any valuable insight/opinion, please let me know.

you're right to worry about your hair , and anyone being sarcastic, probably isn't. there is no such thing as TOO EARLY to hop in action, i'd say you consult a dermatologist and eventually run the blood test, i assure you though, you are not even close to the word hairloss. so do not panic, but do check on a Doctor, if it turns out to be male pattern baldness (androgenetic hairloss, hereditary), you would be exteremly early and thus would suffer insignificant to no loss, most likely.
now as for treatements if that's the cas, you're a bit young for finasteride(a drug that lowers dht, a hormone derivative of testosterone that causes the problem) as it could -a small chance- cause nasty sexual side effects(messing with male hormones obviously isn't risk-free) and i would personally suggest you stay away from minoxidil (spray or foam that stimulates hair growth, or to some extent, slight regrowth) as it may, at the beggining cause a shed(supposdly not permanent) that would make you panic and think you're losing your hair, which is supposed to grow back after, thicker and stronger, and hopefully more hair, but then again would minoxidil make you shed you'd panic like hell, and honestly, you currently haven't the slightest reason to start any treatement. i only mentioned the above to inform you about the situation. by the way, finasteride and minoxidil are the only scientifically proven chemical substances in existance to affect hairloss, anythig else is scam and pure deception, be wary. propecia is the leading product based on finasteride, rogaine is the leading product based on minoxidil.
BUT DO NOT DO ANYTHING , NOTHING, DO HOWEVER CHECK ON A DOCTOR ASAP. if there were anything i'd recommend you do know, it would be to start a healthy diet, and aim for vitamins and minerals in your foods(and perhaps multivitamin supplemnets, though a healthy person needn't) however a healthy diet and adequate vitamin intake never hurt anybody, and it eventually shows in hair, fingernail and skin quality if not for the overall health.

Be healthy, as healthy as you could, and check on a doctor, period, and i pray to god i may never see again you on these forums, for your own sake. hope i helped

Looking at your pics, I don't see much of anything close to hair loss. With that being said, if you are worried go see a Dr. that knows something about hair loss and find out for sure. If you find out that you are losing your hair then you can decide whether or not you are willing to fight it with available treatments.

No visible hair loss. Doesn't mean you won't be losing your hair in the future, but now you're not, stop worrying.

Thank you very much for the replies guys. I booked an appointment with my doctor today. To those saying that it's not hair loss, then what exactly is that patch on my head?

Thank you, I'm afraid that I can't buzz cut because I have a massive head and I really need my hair long so that I don't get picked on.. What should I be doing at this point?

EDIT: Also, I wish I'd stop being accused of trolling... There's clearly a patch on my head..

I m not posting any picture anymore cause i got some success looking like 3 year before but still your vertex are almost same as mine so i dont think its much to worry about check your hair after shower or u know spike your hair less u see your scalp less problem or try to check under high flash . But the best option is visit your dermatologist

Cheers man :) I'm seeing my GP today, I suppose she'll refer me to a dermatologist if she thinks it's serious.

If you look at a palm tree from above, you might see the trunk beneath the leaves. In this area, hair goes in different directions, creating the illusion of a bald patch, if you buzz cut your hair you won't see it anymore.

Am I missing something or is there a reason you didn't post any pictures of your frontal-hairline?
Maybe there is recession but you haven't notice it.

I know what you said but it's where male pattern baldness starts like 90% of the time
