Barber messed up my sideburns. The pictures were taken outside on a bright and sunny day. I am going to the dermatologist to ask them about this and about getting on finasteride as well. I'm 21 btw.

I wouldn't know what Norwood level you are at but you are diffuse thinning all over the top for sure so yes go to your derm and start treatments now if you want to try hold on to what you have now. minoxidil would not be a bad option either as finasteride may not give you regrowth. Good luck.

Just a random guy who doesn't know much about hair loss giving you an advice here. It would look much better if you just shave it or trim it really short. Also your back and sides look good so if you've thought about hair transplant thats an option.

Thanks I have it at an inch right now, might go shorter soon. I think I may eventually get a hair transplant if I can but I am only 21, don't they advise you to be at least in your late 20s before you do one?

I know some young dudes who have done hair transplants. I don't think it's a problem if you're young (except for the money part) and if it is, the doctors will inform you.

That's the danger of going too short, and balding. You are definitely losing hair on both ends (hairline and vertex).

Try Finasteride and Minoxidil combined. You have the best chance of getting good hair regrowth, all over. And use it liberally on
your hairline as well.

Best of luck. You're balding agressively, because most guys at twenty one have a receding hairline. A few others will have it diffuse on vertex, or vertex only. You have both.

I used to have my hair longer which kind of hid the thinness so it didn't really dawn on me how bad it was until I cut it and then people commented on it and I looked closer in a mirror. I guess it just happened so fast it got away from me. But yeah I am going to the dermatologist in a few days and I will ask about going on finasteride, minoxidil, and nizoral.

Smart decision. The sooner you do it, the better.

Now I have to use agressive treatments, because I DIDN'T start Finasteride early enough. If I did, not only would I have more hair, but I wouldn't be spending lots of money each month to keep it, unfortunately.

Thanks for the advice. May I ask what treatment you use? I have decided that I am definitely going to need a hair transplant as soon as I can afford it and honestly just to maintain what I got since it seems to be aggressive. Hopefully these new innovative treatments like Follica and Replicel show some promise when they come out.

You DON'T need a hair transplant. Waste of your money and GOOD hair.

You CAN get ALL of your hair back. Trust me on this. Use Propecia and Minoxidil, don't overwash.

All of it, and you might be Norwood zero again.

You really don't need my treatment. I wasted decades on Minoxidil alone, that's why I'm paying the price
now...

But since you asked:

.1% topical Finasteride, twice daily (equal to two milligrams a day).
30%/15% Minoxidil twice daily.
.5/1% topical Progesterone twice daily.

FYI: I just started Androgens again. (Not for hair, obviously). So ALL of my gains will soon be lost.

Also here is a picture of me with long hair from when I was 17 (March 2014) to see progression.

Doesn't look bad on you. But you can kind of see the hairline is starting to recede at that point.

If you take small steps now (Finasteride/Minoxidil), you will save all your hair. And you won't have
to spend hundreds of dollars a month trying to save it, like I am now.

Avoid a transplant for as long as you can. You need to be able to stabilize the hairloss first and see if you can get some regrowth from the finasteride and minoxidil combination.

That is definitely male pattern baldness. How is your family history with male pattern baldness?

Propecia and nizoral 2% three times a week. Wait a year to see if you stabilise or get regrowth then think about a transplant.

Mainly propecia though.

Terrible, lol. My dad is 69 and is a diffuse NW6. My mother said her father was "bald". He died in 1969 so I never knew him. My uncle is NW7 now, was NW4 by the time he was 25. and his son, my cousin is 24 and NW4.
