Am I Losing My Hair? (Pics Included)

I'm 18 and I'm not sure if I'm losing my hair or if I just have a mature hairline. This has been a subject of obsession for me for a few years now, so I would like to put it to rest of I can.
Almost everyone on my dad's side of the family is bald, and went bald young. My dad was much, much, much, much, much worse at 18 than I am right now, it was pretty obvious he was losing his. No one on my mom's side of the family loses hair, they usually stay NW2's until the day they die. All of my hair characteristics come from my mom's side of the family. Hopefully I was lucky enough to inherit their resistance to DHT as well.
I don't shed much and most of the hair I do shed looks thick all the way through. The only hairs that concern me are a few short, kinky ones I find. They look as thick as the other hairs when I pull them straight though.

I should probably note that for some reason the hair along my hairline looks thinner in these pictures than it actually is. The hair is very thick around my hairline, it's just as thick as the rest of the hair on my head. I think the pics are a little decieving in that aspect. I'm also pulling back on my hair very hard so it looks worse than it would naturally.

These pics might make it look a little worse than it is, it looks slightly better in real life. But I guess these pics will have to do.

The hair on my head is very, very thick. My only concern is my hairline.

We have pretty much the same family history!
My dad started balding at around 27 though, his brother was Norwood 6-7 at very very early, like, before 25.

My moms dad receded to a Norwood 2 at the age of 25 or something and it has NOT changed at all since then.

I think your hair is good for now and I dont think you're balding, it looks kinda like my hair though yours seem thicker .. :)

Your temples have receded a tad, or two. But seriously that's nothing you should worry about. There's no way to predict if it will worsen unless you've got active miniaturization going on. (Which should be rather obvious with your hair's thickness and length)

The crown shot can be rendered useless, everyone's hair parts somewhere, hence the crown. As for the rest, wait and see what happens. You could go for a short hairstyle right now and your situation would be far from noticeable to others, just annoying to yourself as you constantly focus on it.

With your current hairstyle and thickness your hairline could've been much worse and it would still not be apparent.

Mature hairline, maybe.

Btw what's the point in hiding your face in the first shots if your going to show it in the second shots anyway lol?

I didn't want to show my face at first, but later decided I didn't care. :p

I'm not sure if I have miniturization, I sometimes find hairs shorter than what I would think would fall out, but they're never any thinner. No shedding at all unless I give my hair a few tugs, and even then I don't lose much. I spend about 10 minutes a day running my fingers through my hair in the shower to see how many hairs I get out and if they're miniturized or not, but I usually only get 5 out and they all seem pretty thick.
Last year I spiked up all the hair along my hairline (I believe I had the same hairline then too. I've been obsessivly checking it since I was a freshman though, so I guess it's possible I just didn't notice the change.) and I never got any comments about my hairline receding. Infact, I used to get told how good my hair looked.

I was looking at a picture of my maturnal grandfather at 18 and he seems to have the same exact hairline I do. He was only slightly more receded when he died in his 70's. I was a little worried about the lack of temple points until I saw that my maturnal grandfather didn't have them either.

I don't think it's much more noticeable with a short haircut, here is a picture of me with short hair from around mid-september...

It's really not noticeable unless I pull my hair back hard. In fact, I've noticed a lot of guys my age with much worse hairlines than I have, and most of them don't have any balding in their family as far as I can tell.

Based on my family history, is it possible I will be able to maintain for a long time? I'm still confused about whether it's a mature hairline or if I'm balding. :(

Here's another pic...

These pictures make it look a bit worse than it is. I just measured and the farthest point back is about an inch behind the tip of my widow's peak. Is that a lot?

I love it when guys like you post pictures and ask if they are balding, and then proceed to tell everyone how amazing their hair is :punk:

Fact is, you are only 18. Your hair looks great, but then again so did mine at your age. I'm 23 and had similar hair at 18, even 21. However, my hair has gone downhill in the past 2 years.

For now I'd say to just keep an eye on it. I don't think you have anything to worry about though.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like my hair is great. If I thought it was amazing I wouldn't be paniced enough to join a hairloss forum. :p
I'm happy as long as it doesn't look like there's anything wrong right now. It may all go to hell later, but I'm tired of worrying about it. As long as it hasn't started yet, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Thank you so much! :]
