Hello
I’m 18 year old boy from Serbia
And recently I cut my hair and noticed that my hair on temples is high
I’ve always had high forehead since I was a baby
I think my hair has receded a bit and I’m not sure if it’s male pattern baldness
From my moms side there’s no one bald
Only from my paternal grandmother (her brother)
I would like to know what I can do about and if I’m really going bald
Please help
Thanks in advance

Yes it looks like you're losing your hair, when I was 18 and buzzed by hair it looked exactly like yours, maybe even better but now at 20 it has progressed a lot further than before, and at the time when I was 18 everybody said I wasn't balding and they were wrong, look into finasteride .

This reminds me of my old hairline. Yes, I see u are prone to balding since your temples are a little thinner. If I were u, I would change my diet to eliminate excess fat and get on an exercise regime. If u wanna be aggressive, go on minoxidil and for finasteride it doesnt hurt to have a blister pack or two prepped. U said u were 18, and some people don't recommend it for people below 20 but I beg to differ. In fact, if I had could go back in time I would have taken it starting at about 19-20. It is also a good time to ease into the medication, taking very low doses every couple of days :)

So you think in fact that I have male patern baldness?
Could it be mature hairline
Since my dad also has high temples since he was young?
I’ve always had thin hair like my dad

Yes I do think it is in your genes. Why did u dislike my opinion when u clearly asked for people's thoughts? OK, I will take back what I said, u are not balding at all. Happy? LOL

The thing is, what matters in the end is how u feel about your hair. If u are losing hair, it always is a good thing to go on treatment earlier. It doesn't matter what your family's hair look like. Yes, some people say there is a mature hairline and I used to believe that too but nowadays I feel like a mature hairline is just a norwood 1.5 -_-

Disliking was never my intention I’m sorry
I’m happy to hear someone is trying to help me
I appreciate you

Any therapy
As for now I’m using castor oil mixed with coconut oil on my hair

Finasteride. But I wouldn’t recommend it for you at this stage.

I took a haircut and this is how it looks

Honestly it doesn't look bad at all. But since eastern europeans usually tend to have a larger forehead it can make u think u are receding. But for now it looks ok. If u are worried then get some finasteride pills and take super low doses. Even 0.02mg has been said to inhibit DHT to some extent so that should give u peace of mind.

Try not to raise your brows too much (especially as u are constantly checking to see if your hairline is getting worse) as I believe muscles around the galea especially the frontalis when overused can become overdeveloped in some people and pull on the galea causing nutrient deprivation, directing DHT towards those follicles. This is a theory I read long ago and I feel it is one contributing factor towards male pattern baldness. U want to relax scalp and forehead muscles.

Good luck bro. U can try dermarolling around your hairline also, but "stamp" with the roller and be careful not to get your hair stuck in the roller if u do roll. This plus minoxidil 5% might after some months help u grow vellus hairs that are currently not visible around your hairline. But finasteride is still number one for me. I am on a very low dose myself unless on cheat days where I consume a ton of saturated fat and sugars and cholesterol (I will take a higher dose on that day and go back to low dose next day). U can order finasteride online for quite cheap, but I suggest that u talk to a doctor first and tell them u want to try it. Seek the opinion of many.

Thanks for your honest opinion man
It helps me a lot that people want to contribute even with the little word of advice
I went to dermatologist today
She prescribed me some pills and creams
Thanks again
She diagnosed me with Telogen Effluvium
But she didn’t really took a good look at my hair
Since the whole process took like 10 seconds

What’s your rationale behind this?
Steroid hormones are made from cholesterol. Same goes for saturated fat which directly helps in boosting hormone production. Sugary foods can also contribute, as well as causing insulin resistance which has been linked to male pattern baldness. I personally take a small dose of finasteride on most days as I seem to suffer from sides, so I don't want to completely annihilate DHT. But on days when I feel I may have overstimulated production of it I take a larger dose to try and guard against the effect of it, sort of like a safety barrier. Then I go back to my normal routine after. Trust me, I would take a full 1mg if it gave me no sides.

What has fat in the diet and exercise to do with balding? Why don´t you stop to give stupid advice to people?
