I’m not sure about my hairline I’ve inserted a pic to show you how it is this pic was around a year ago (guitar holding one) and no changes to the hairline up until now, but my scalp is thinning in a diffusing hair loss kind of way as there’s no pattern just my whole scalp is thin and it happened all of a sudden around 6 months ago as my parents didn’t see me from September 2017 to January 2018 as I study abroad and they have told me there was drastic changes (my hair got thin from the top and it wasn’t like that in September) and I’m wondering if it is male pattern baldness or Telogen Effluvium as it happened really quick and my hairline didn’t change at all. Also my hair on the sides got pretty thin aswell abnormally but my hairline did not change. I thought it was Telogen Effluvium As I did go through a lot of stress between September 2017 and January 2018 with my studies and personal issues but I just want to make sure if it’s That or just male pattern baldness. My hair on top got a little better compared to January but not a lot it is still a little thin but not as thin as January. I have uploaded the pic from over a year ago (the guitar holding one) as it shows my hair line a lot better and some other pics I have taken recently of my scalp and sides and hairline.

It is a little too early to confirm for sure. Telogen Effluvium is not going to affect the hair line and temples moving back, it will be diffuse thinning or random spot thinning. I have a feeling your hair loss is more coming from the front and will progress backward. Do you have male pattern baldness in your family? Usually the V shape hair line is mostly in white males and less often but still occurs in Asian males, do you have immediate family members of these races?

Hello

My father is middle eastern and my mother is East African so yeah I’m mixed race. Do you mean that I’m showing signs of male pattern baldness? By what you said of you have a feeling my hair loss will progress from the front to the back.
Thank you for your reply

I hate to say things definite since it is so early but it looks like you are in the beginning stages.

We all tend to know when we realize the hair is not as thick as before and we start seeing through to the scalp that we are following down the path of our bald family members.

Hello

Thank you for the insight on this. So I am for sure experiencing male pattern baldness? Also if I am what do you reccommend to slow the process or just eliminate it altogether?

I am hesitant to say for sure. But based on your genetic history+what you said+ the recession pattern I would say this is the beginning. I cannot say for sure since your hair still looks fine.

The most common thing is to take Finasteride to slow the process and help grow hair. You can always use Minoxidil as well to help grow hair/thicken existing hair.

A lot of people in the middle east have a different path for their Androgen Alopecia. Not only will they
not have recession, but vertex thinning, but it starts balding in the middle, from vertex to top.

Not saying that all do, it just seems that a higher than normal population does. This is especially
true for people of Indian genetics.

@Abudy

At this stage in your life, your hair density is good.

You seem to have better density on your hairline and vertex, and good
density all around.
