Am I Crazy For Wanting To Try Avodart? Or Should I Give Propecia More Time

ive been on propecia for a little over one week and still have some scalp itch... it’s definitely better but definitely still there and I hate it so much. Not only does it tell me I’m still losing hair it’s straight up annoying. Seems like for most people propecia kills the itch within a week.

I would love to just kill it with some avodart... I am worried that a non-insignificant amount of people seem have vastly increased scalp issues on avodart, like a straight up painful scalp. Just seems really risky.

If I knew all I would get it some ed with low libido I would eat it like candy but I’m worried about the opposite effect...

Any advice?

How bad is your itch? I get some itch and slight burning here and there after 2 months but nothing unbearable

Stick with finasteride for at least one year. If you are going to treat hair loss, you need to have patience. If you don't, then you will never last in this fight. You will be "knocked out" way too soon.

Oh it’s not too bad I guess. Usually first thing in the morning it feels like my hairs are moving around on my head, usually goes away in the afternoon and then comes back at night. Occassional mild burn.

It’s definitely worse after rogaine is something I’ve noticed...

It’s literally nothing compared to my itch before I started back up on propecia... that was awful, constant scalp crawling and poking sensation which made it impossible to concentrate on anything...

Yeah my itch/burning went away for the first month and slightly came back in the second. I’d like to try dutasteride too. Haven’t heard anything about it increasing the itch though personally, I could be wrong.

It’s weird, sometimes I get a weird dull pain at the tip of my dick... when this happens it means ZERO itching, usually for atleast an hour. I’ve actually come to really really enjoy the sensation oddly enough

I honestly want nothing more than to nuke my libido into nothing and just be done with this ordeal...

Trust me I’ve spend so many hours looking this stuff up, there are plenty examples of duta causing straight up painful scalp plus or minus a nasty as seb derm. Would be quite awful...

I’m not sure what the best strategy is though... to start low dose like 0.5 eod which leaves the option to increase down the road or to go straight to high dose like 1 or 2 mg everyday. I kind of want to go crazy with 1.5mg everyday and just nuke my libido

Same, the shed is so depressing. In 5 months I legit lost over a quarter of the hair on my head I had no idea this could happen so fast.

Man propecia is so freaking weird... woke up in the middle of the night rock hard... also with scalp inflammation.

Hope this passes soon

Dude over the winter I had no signs of hair loss, now I see scalp everywhere. I literally have no idea what’s happening to me.

We just have insane balding genetics. Do you also have multiple early 20 NW7s in your close family?

So tempted to make a derm appointment and ask for 1mg duta everyday.
What country do you live in? Chances are they wont prescribe you it. In Canada you have a better chance that ur hair magically grows back by itself than a derm prescribing you dutasteride.

Nope, my dad and his grandfather had full heads of hair. My moms grandfather went bald in his 60s and 3 out of her 4 brothers never went bald. ONE of her brothers went bald early and of course I got his sh*t genes

That sucks man. For me, my dad was nw7 at 22 years old , his other brother went NW6 at 25ish and the oldest brother was NW5 in pics of him in late highschool. My dads father also was NW7 in his early 20s. My dads sister has female pattern baldness to the point where she is almost fully bald( but shes in her 50s). All of her sons also went to NW5-7 in their late teens and early 20s. I was a thick NW1 up until 5 months ago when i started losing hairs in clumps.

f*** man that blows. I forgot to mention, my mom has been losing a lot of hair so I must get it from her since I’m diffused. Sucks, my brother is 30 with a full head of thick hair

I’m in the US. My derm already offered it to me at one point, think he would prescribe it
