Saw palmetto 320mg a day is the only herb and ive tried a lot of herbal supplements that has done anything for me. Let me say though that my hair shedding all over has completely stopped after about a week on saw palmetto. I am also taking green tea(worthless) pygeum(just started) grape seed and sp. I know finasteride is more powerful though and might help me regrow a little, but saw palmetto gives me sides just like finasteride although maybe less severe.

how exactly does my regimen suck? I'm using 2 of ot the big 3.
I plan on adding something alone the lines of Revivogen to maybe get some thickness.

Because without finasteride/propecia etc..., your male pattern baldness will continue.
For example, lets say you regrow hair at your hairline with minoxidil, you will still lose hair behind that if you know what I mean..

I really got to get around to posting pics.
I have pics from about 6 years ago when I shaved my head and noticed thought that my hair seemed thin. But didn't do anything about it. Now 6 years later I shaved my head and it looks exactly the same minus a little right temple hairline.
I'm not ruling out finasteride etc. I just want to see how I react to the minoxidil and I must get in to see a dermo.

Ok from this post forward can anyone suggest any topicals or side free supplements to add to my regimen. Should I drop anything that I am currently taking?

Considering that the sides (those fake sides that aren't real) of finasteride are 100% reversable, why not at least try finasteride? Its not like you will be permanently altered for the rest of your life. If you don't like the "sides" then stop.

minoxidil and nizoral are a joke compared to finasteride. minoxidil and nizoral are just to ease the scalp itching and help regrow a bit of hair, but only finasteride fights male pattern baldness.

If you are going to skip finasteride, you might as well shave your head and call it quits.

p.s. I see tons of sucsess stories with finasteride. Show me one sucsess story were somebody maintained or regrew their hair using herbs, leaves, vitimans and other garbage. When I was a teenage sporting a NW0, I never took a vitiman in my life. Now that I take vitimans for health, my hair is falling out like mad.

p.s.s. If baldness is a vitiman deficiancy, why are starving and malnurished kids in africa sporting NW0s? Isn't it kinda obvious how much greater baldness is in men than women that its a hormonal thing?

the only people who said the sides on finasteride are 100% reversible are the ones who claim they only exist in 1% of people on finasteride.

As far as topicals, you can try topical dutasteride or topical spironolactone (preferably the 5% cream since it works better and has a higher success rate). Those are arguably the two strongest topicals for fighting DHT. Although there's RU (but thats too expensive). Some others also use Revivogen as well, for topical. But usage of the topicals can also be relative to what kind of male pattern baldness you are experiencing. So if you are only thinning in lets say the temples, using topicals would work well most likely. But if you are thinning in the front and the vertex, or even diffuse thinning -- then you'd be better off using finasteride/Propecia.

I dunno what to do about the following.
The minoxidil 2% I'm using is making my head so damn itchy I can't help but to at least rub it.
I try to rub beyond the hairline to soothe it a little, but I'm pulling out little fine white hairs, as well as dry skin. I believe these hairs are the regrowth because they are colorless.
I also think the Nizoral may be making it worse. It feels good, kinda tingly while I'm in the shower but gets dry and itchy right afterward.
Is there a shampoo or anything I can try for some moisture. I'm currently using Dove. What about Aloevera?
Also would it be a big deal to stop using min for a few days until it clears up?

Are you on finastride?

Stop Nizoral if you think it is making your scalp more itchy. I and other users have experienced the same. Also go for the Rogaine foam which is usually much better tolerated than liquid minoxidil.

HELP!
I need some advice asap. My scalp has become so damn itchy it's driving me crazy. Nothing I've tried seems to help. Stopped using nizoral for a while as well as minoxidil for a few days.
There has to be something out there I can try to soothe the itchiness.

Aloe? Emu oil? Or you could try Tricomin or Folligen.

There's information about these here as well as on the rest of this site:

http://www.hairlosstalk.com/research/me ... nt2men.htm

And, for the record, I don't think your regimen is pathetic, especially if you're not trying to regrow tons of hair. If you look at the graphs on hair count that appear all over these forums you'll see that there isn't a huge difference between finasteride or minoxidil over five years, though finasteride seems to maintain a bit better longer term. My opinion is that you can cross those bridges when you need to. Good luck.

thanks for the info. I have some aloe vera that I've been using but I've been trying to avoid it as much as possible. I'm not exactly sure if it's all natural or not. At this point I don't want to risk anything that will cause more hair to fall out.
i also have to stop both nizoral and Min for at least a week until it heals properly.

everyone will think im an idiot but I swear saw palmetto made my itch go away for about 4 or 5 weeks and then it gradually came back. It was the only thing I used and I know for a fact it did that. I have no clue why.
