edit....for the itchy update please see page 4

I'm about a month and a half into treatment and heres what's been happening. Please help me clear a few things up.
I've been taking vitimin B6, MSM 1000mg, and Biotin daily
minoxidil 2% twice daily
And Nizoral every few days
After researching I've found that Propecia etc. is not for me so I'm trying to avoid that route.
Now here's what's been up
I could've swore that the minoxidil was working miracles after only 2 weeks but I'm not so sure anymore.
I went ahead and shaved my head for maximum absorbtion, and though I liked the way it looked I'm sick of it already.
Anyway it seems now that the hair in the mid front is falling out. If I grasp the hair with my fingers apply little pressure it comes out without any real work. The hairs have a white bulb on the ends. Same with the temples. Is this a shed?
How long b4 I see results because my male pattern baldness was very slow, and doubt I'd have lost much more by this point naturally.
Any suggestions for anything else I could try?

I was through this phase the first 2 months, i knew it was just my mind, but i couldnt help it, feeling shitty one day because i thought i had lost tons of density and feeling good the other day because i thought i had regrown.

Yes you are a little impatient, but dont worry its natural. I can tell you that if you are a good minoxidil responder, you will see results sooner than you think.

re:

It appears that you have spent time researching male pattern baldness solutions on this site (seeing as you have decided to not use finasteride). If this is the case, then you know the answer to your question.
IMO, results from topicals are nothing compared to results from finasteride. Why not try a 0.5 mg daily dose and evaluate sides and results?

if you see bulbs, it is bad news. Unless you use finasteride or dutasteride, be prepared to go bald.
(at least try nizoral shampoo every other day and spironolactone topical)

that's a pretty pathetic regimen

like techprof said, be prepared to go bald unless you man up and try a drug.

if you would just talk to your Doctor about finasteride(propecia/proscar) and get on that, you could dump all the rest of the stuff in your regimen(even the minoxidil) and not worry about losing your hair for awhile.

and tech, bulbs are not bad news. it just means the hair's being shed in telogen. a lot of people experience shedding on minoxidil so it's not necessarily bad news at all.

i thought the bulbs were a good thing?

i just said that they are in a lot of cases. the thicker the bulb, generally the deeper the hair shaft it came from, from what i've read. so if your bulbs are really thick and easy to see, i would be happy.

Jayman, in my experience (without using finasteride/dutasteride) and going bald, the hairs shed from the balding area had bulbs. Those hairs never came back.

Regular hairs (same thickness entire length of the hair) typically came back.

tech i can't comment on it because i only noticed shedding after 1 month on dutasteride and then 3 months later with another shed. all the hairs shed had these super thick bulbs.

the hairs from the first shed in the crown have all come back and come back thicker. i expect that the hairs that i shed from the front will as well. just my experience.

Not all have bulbs, but some do.
What I've noticed is that even though my hair is short I can pull out 2-3 hairs at a time with very little trouble. I couldn't do this before I started minoxidil.

yeah it's probably related to the minoxidil then. i wouldn't worry about that but i'm telling you that you are f'ing yourself in the *** if you don't talk to your doctor and get on a drug. ignore the advice here at your own peril. there's plenty of guys here like you who have tried it the natural way and ended up losing a ton of hair and resorting to the drugs later on. better to start early.

JayMans right. Youll need finasteride if you want to save your hair. Why did you decide finasteride wasnt right for you?

I dunno man I have a history of anxiety and depression. I always react badly to any med I have ever tried. Hell, I try to avoid cough syrup that may make one groggy.
I'll see what my derm says, if he ever calls, it's been 2 months now.

IMO, results from topicals are nothing compared to results from finasteride.

Depends on what you mean results. If long-term mantainance(like 4-5 years at least) is what you mean yes, finasteride is the best.

But finasteride and any other internal imo, cannot compare to the excellent(or at least medium) regrowth and thickening you can get by minoxidil and some other regrowth stimulants.

Any way DHT inhibition is neccesary i guess, so if i were you i would try finasteride, and if you get any real sides(real, not pshychological) i would drop and switch to something like spironolactone cream.

So more than likely this is simply a shedding period. Any idea how long b4 I see results.

Also here's my plan based on what you guys are saying. I'm def going to ask the dermo for a prescription for finasteride. I want to wait minoxidil out for a bit and see the results it produces on it's own. Even if they are good I will still take finasteride to maintain, I'm just curious to see results from one at a time.

Also is it finasteride that causes you to grow boobs?
What percentage of men does this happen to, if so.

Jayman should win forum poster of the year. I bolded the important points.

Like the boys said, your regimen sucks.

Check out http://www.hairsite.com/hair-loss-supplements.htm for some all natural topicals and other crap that may work.

I'd recommend Avodart though. I take it every day (I started by doing a mix of finasteride and dutasteride to try and avoid a massive testosterone increase, afraid it was the cause of anecdotal reports of hairloss on the hairline). Well I stopped being paranoid about that but still was a little concerned. So I switched from Dr. Lee's 2% keto to Nizoral 1% and it doesn't dry my hair out like Lee's. I use it pretty much every day, as opposed to Lee's every third day.

Oh, and my brain fog is gone. Go me.

I plan on adding something alone the lines of Revivogen to maybe get some thickness.
