Alternatives to Dermovan?

I'm looking for some alternatives to Dermovan cream for my homemade spironolactone. Dermovan is ok, but it is so incredibly thick I end up using way too much and I can't find a good way to apply it effectively

Where could i buy ppg? Is that just a shortened name or is that the actual product? What about pure alcohol how would I obtain close to 100-200 proof pure alcohol (is this too much for the scalp?)

I want to make a spray version of spironolactone. I'm not concerned with "wasting" it by overspraying my scalp. I want better coverage and more efficent ways of applying spironolactone other than Dr. lee's spironolactone dabber.

Bryan,
Do you know if dermovan cream reacts with spironolactone? Dermovan is compatible with most acid or alkaline substances.... Is spironolactone either of those, does dermovan actually carry spironolactone into the skin?

Are you keeping it refrigerated? It does thicken-up considerably when it gets cold. You could try removing it from the fridge a while before you apply it, letting it achieve room-temperature briefly, then put it back in the fridge afterwards.

"PPG" refers to propylene glycol. You could probably go to your local drugstore and have the pharmacist order you a pint bottle of it. Should cost no more than about $10 for that quantity.

You can buy "Everclear" from a liquor store in some states (it's illegal in others). It's 190-proof grain alcohol suitable for human consumption. In other words, it's 95% pure ethanol (ethyl alcohol).

I took a swallow of that stuff once, and it knocked me flat on my ***! :freaked:

Oh my god, Dr. Lee's dabber bottle seems to me to be a VERY efficient way to apply a topical!! I love those things!

I would be absolutely astonished if it turned out that Dermovan was incompatible with spironolactone. And since the stuff "vanishes" so readily into the skin, it oughtta be at least a reasonably effective topical vehicle!

Bryan,
I'm into firebreathing, and I use everclear to do that. Let me just say, when I hold that stuff in my mouth for more than 2-3 seconds, or if I repeat the stunt more than 2 times, the skin on the inside of my mouth dies and peels away.
I can't imagine what that stuff would do to your stomach.
I'd say everclear is fit for human consumption only in some kind of cocktail or something. Otherwise, it's a stomach ulcer waiting to happen.
