Maybe Ernie should consider that body hair, unlike scalp hair, responds well to DHT. Perhaps those with low DHT levels or are unable to convert testosterone into DHT have less body hair.

It is a shame how he and some other of his cronies ruined that place. I dont even go there anymore.

i have hardly any body or facial hair(I mean i'm probably bottom fifteenth percentile in terms of amount of body hair on guys) yet was still going bald before . Does this mean anything?

Wow, this is an old thread :)

Anyhow, I have very little body hair myself... As in I cant grow any hair on my chest, no real happy trial, no hair on my shoulders or back, and cannot grow a beard (though I can grow a goatee).

The thing is, in a nut shell, if your body hair cells arent receptive to DHT but your scalp hair is, it is possible to become a freak like ourselves Jayman  Seriously though, I wouldnt read too much into it... It isnt the most common thing but it does happen.

hah thanks socks. i'd rather be a hairless baldie than a hairy one anyway if it happens. i cannot really grow anything on my face except scruff unless i want it to take a super long time and still look pathetic. i do have a happy trail and some hair between my pecs but only a light amount on arms and legs and none on my back.

what makes me wonder is this. i am supposedly mimicking my dads hair loss pattern and his dads, and both of them have a ton of body hair. like a ton. my dad is super hairy for real. both of them are diffuse NW5.

my mom's dad, on the other hand, has very little body hair, also a lot of difficulty growing a convincing beard even at 82. his goatee that hes had for 25 years took him like 2 months to grow. he might have less facial growth than me even. he has recently started going bald, like within the past 10 years. he is maybe a diffuse Norwood 3.5 now.

Do you think its possible that I have my maternal grandpa's hair loss pattern instead of my dad's and his dad? Because I don't have any hair loss in the crown, just in the frontal third where it's diffuse, and that's exactly what my grandpa has although his is more severe than mine. He still has pretty thick hair in the back 2/3rds of his head.

What I wonder though is although its possible that I have his, why mine started at like age 20 and his started at like age 70.

Again, I'm not sure if there's a correlation or whatever but I thought that amount of body hair is inherited genetically like the amount of scalp hair that you end up with.

Thanks man. Any insight appreciated.

Well, there are a lot of possibilities actually!

Like, body hair is usually rich in the Type I 5ar whereas scalp hair follicles usually are rich with the Type II 5ar... Maybe you have lower levels of the Type I and more Type II?

Or, maybe you inherited body hair that is 'resistant' to androgens (genetically) whereas your scalp hair is sensitive

Or maybe your body hair will come out later in life. Some guys cant grow beards or much body hair till their 30s or even 40s and beyond.

Genetics can be weird (and cruel). I certainly have my father's hair texture and type but unlike my dad my side temples receded some (not much though) and I experienced diffused thinning all over my hairline and vertex.... My brother who has hair more like my mom's side of the family (where the baldness is) has perfect hair at 26 without a hint of hairloss... And to add insult to injury, can grow a full beard as well as have a hairy chest (dont know about the rest of his body... Dont really want to look :p ).

socks, it is possible that my body hair will come out later, but won't avodart stop some of that from coming out while i'm on it at least? i know my dad had way more hair at 18 than i have at 22 and so did his dad, so i don't really see myself getting much more hairier. he had like his full amount of body hair at 19-20 and i haven't gotten any hairier since then either.

he also had a lot less scalp hair at my age. he was already like a nw3 at 22 with some serious diffusion while mine is rather mild and i have an nw1.5-nw2 hairline.

if i do have more type II then that's not awful I guess because i am on the avodart which blocks like 99% of it.
thanks

That IS what Ernie believes! He thinks that DHT is required for all hair growth, both body and scalp hair. Stephen Foote evidently feels the same way...

Only a complete idiot could possibly confuse my theory with the rantings of poor old Ernie.

Your pathetic attempts to try to put my theory into the same class as Ernies, once again shows people on these sites how desperate and underhanded you are in trying to convice people that "you are the man" on hairloss sites

If you really think my theory has anything at all in common with Ernies, post your evidence, otherwise keep your pathetic attention seeking mouth shut!

I have so little body hair that people accuse me of shaving my legs, arms and chest. I CANNOT grow a beard and can only grow a pathetic mustache.

I'm losing my hair in a diffuse pattern in front.
