Has anyone of you ever read that newsgroup? I've read some posts and had the impression that it is pure sh*t. I'm glad there is HairLossTalk.com.com.

Except Kofi and other few person, it's a waste of time.

I remember 1995-2000 when alt.baldspot was useful.

The history of alt.baldspot is divided into two major sections: BE and AE (Before Ernie, and After Ernie). I started posting there approximately 7 years BE, but haven't done much since in the AE era, for obvious reasons.

hehehe

I noticed that there is also an Erniebot. The famous Ernie Primeau explicitly says that DHT is good for hair. Oh, and there is also Kofi who posts papers about the connection between vegetables and brain damages....
There seem to be only about 5 guys posting with absolutely no interest in hairloss.

The Ernie dude is also completely insane and convinced that the only real and effective treatment for male pattern baldness is to pluck one's body hairs, thus increasing the availabiltiy of nutrients to the scalp hair. It's just unbelievable that crazy old man brought down alt.baldspot by himself.

It seems that a few sites are becoming less and less visited because of one or 2 people joining the site and just going on and on about total bull sh*t and causing everyone to leave. I use to visit regrowth.com, but about a year ago a few people started wasting everyone's time and spamming the site and with no real Mod. over there God knows how long it went on. There were some good members over there, who all started leaving because they got sick of dealing with a few idiots who had too much time in between their dungeon and dragons and star trek discussion groups.

Yeah regrowth.com has definetly lost its edge. The site admin is never around, its becoming a spawning ground for Ken.

hey has anyone tried plucking your body hairs, thus increasing the availabiltiy of nutrients to the scalp hair?

Ty

I recently has a look at regrowth.com and the traffic was pretty slow and what was there was pretty low level, not good.

No, but have you ever noticed that those who don't have much body hair usually have a full head of hair? It's because all the "nutrients" are being used up on the scalp hair rather than the body. Everyone should begin plucking right away...there is not time to waste!

Maybe Ernie should consider that body hair, unlike scalp hair, responds well to DHT. Perhaps those with low DHT levels or are unable to convert testosterone into DHT have less body hair.

It is a shame how he and some other of his cronies ruined that place. I dont even go there anymore.

That IS what Ernie believes! He thinks that DHT is required for all hair growth, both body and scalp hair. Stephen Foote evidently feels the same way...

Yeah, I know. It boggles the mind how one can reach such a conclusion. Lets say for one minute that was indeed the case.

What the hell would plucking body hair do for you?! Your hair is still growing and "eating up" nutrients even when it isnt above the skin's surface.

You would actually have to destroy the hair follicle to truly stop it from "robbing" your body of whatever Ernie thinks body hair is robbing it of.

It is just pure stupidity.

And the vulgar foul language gets real old. Everyone is a Festering Vile $%$#^ #$$%^3 $#%^#

I mean come on!!!! When every other word out of your mouth is f*ck it lowers the IQ level of whatever you say by at least 100pts.

He has been at this for how long now? You would think the man would get a life ya know?

This is a good newsgroup for people to search for information on. You can do so over at http://groups.google.com

Yes who is this Ernie guy? Does he seriously have some mental disorder or something? I can't imagine anybody wanting to really waste that much of their time on a newsgroup unless something was really wrongwith him. I'm guessing alt.baldspot is a usenet group that can't be moderated?

He is without doubt the most deranged and obsessive internet troll in history. No exaggeration.

From 2000 onwards usenet was losing popularity to web forums based on this format, but if Ernie had never come along alt.baldspot would probably still be a useful resource.

Ernie's science in a nutshell:

He thinks 5ar is a "nutrient." And that balding scalps are inefficient at utilising it.

He religiously cites a study in which hemaphrodites with 5ar deficiency do not go bald (effectively disproving his own point).

I always wondered why alt.baldspot didn't just ban Ernie's URL.

Ive looked on alt.baldspot a couple of times. It has a legendary reputation for having being a hotbed of thought in years past with very knowledgeable people discussing possibilities in baldness. And that wierdo just spams up all the boards there with zillions of posts and his inane theory.

Ive seen guys (my uncle) who have tons of body hair and are NW1 in their fifties. Its ridiculous.

i have hardly any body or facial hair(I mean i'm probably bottom fifteenth percentile in terms of amount of body hair on guys) yet was still going bald before . Does this mean anything?
