I think I want to try something in the Ghostbond range - local beauty supplies here carry them...

Really disappointed I can't use tape.

No wonder I could never go for true extended wear...

Give this scalp protector a try! As always, patch test first.

I use Walker's Thick! It does help a little, I think.
Yes, but this is a completely different product. Walker thick is designed to put a layer between the bond and your scalp. This is meant to treat and soothe irritated skin as well as applying a barrier. This is an antiseptic as well.

Ah, good looks. A barrier can do a lot.

I've noticed if I shower, apply lotion to my cleansed face and scalp, then attach over that - with scalp protector - I do have less irritation...

I'm recommending it more for its medicinal properties in healing the underlying issue, not just adding a barrier. I can sympathize it must be very irritating to be in your situation so hopefully this may help. :)

I guess I'll have to go w Ghostbond.

Will different ones result in different levels of mess on my lace ?

For example, will Platinum leave more residue on my unit than regular Ghostbond?

It shouldn't.... the differences in various ghost Bond products tend to be with regard to sweat, oil production, and light reflection.

BTW does Poly have acrylic in it? My all Poly - but not UTS - has been too hot to wear for longer than a day, but I feel like it might be irritating as well?

Which is overall the best?

Also how many layers do you use?
Consensus seems to be platinum is the best. I would follow the instructions with regard to how many layers..... everyone always wants to reinvent the wheel. If product could work as good with less layers or better with more layers they would suggest that.... as they want their product to perform better than the rest :)

There's no way to know the exact contents without a laboratory analysis. You have to remember these things are from sweatshops in China, produced with slave labor for maximum profit. They don't follow any sort of FDA or guidelines or procedures with regard to safety.

Acrylic just means synthetic resins.... with this in mind I would say absolutely they contain synthetic resins. Which ones, again we don't know.

Thanks. You personally use Davlyn if I recall correctly?

I want sensitive skin-approved, acrylic-free.

Also after the glue has dried, can I spritz with alcohol to buy repositioning time, or will that compromise the dryness and lead to glue seepage?

I have really sensitive skin. I recall wearing my first attachment - salon done - for 4 days, taking off the toupee, and seeing a lot of red.

I should have taken a tip then.

With those goals, I would definitely suggest ghost Bond Platinum. However you do not want to Spritz a water-based adhesive with alcohol.

I have been following the discussions re. bonding with a great deal of interest as I am about to become a wearer sometime in January. The salon wants to do tapes (for ease of cleaning) so I have already ordered 2 brands of tape. But now that you have made me aware of the possibility of allergic reactions to tape, and other longer term issues, I plan to order some liquid as well to have on hand if the tapes don't work out for me. I will order Ghostbond, and was also going to order Davlyn Black, but then I came across this on one of the retailer sites as well as similar wording on Davlyn's homepage. Seems like a contradiction to include "not for daily wear" and "extended wear" in the same paragraph.
Can you guys recommend another liquid I might try, or am I reading too much into the disclaimer? Thanks.

I've been there. When trying to decide between davlyn black and green my research revealed that the only difference is that green is formulated to withstand oily skin better.

I contacted davlyn which was no easy feat as they are just the middleman/seller not the manufacturer. Being formulated to have a better hold in worse condition's such as a oily scalp... why would it not be for extended use? I think it's just bad information. From my experience black and green have work equally well..... I typically go with green because it's supposed to handle oil better. But they're both definitely not only good for a day/daily wear.
