Hey guys I'm still quite new to the whole hairloss treatments, a quick run down, I've been losing my hair for over a year and as much as I did think it may have been a scalp problem, it appears because of my symptoms I'm in the early stages of balding.

I've got a few questions regarding the big 3 (finasteride particularly):

I've been using nizoral and it seemed to have had no effect, so is the ketoconazole shampoo any different to nizoral?

I'm not sure wheather or not I wanna start using rogaine since I've heard it can cause scalp irritation and a big shed, not to mention the additional cost and the bother of putting it on twice daily.

As for finasteride from what I've heard it is by far the most effective for not only stopping hairloss but also helping with scalp problems, I was just curious as to how aggressive the shed usually is when starting and wheather I should start off at 0.5 mg. Also how long does it usually take before see results/hair loss to stop?

If there is anything else you feel I'd need to know before starting treatment please let me know. Thanks for reading guys, and thanks in advance for your responses, I appreciate it

I never had a shed from starting finasteride. It took around 6 months to start seeing any difference. 1 to 2 yrs to have some regrowth.

Finasteride results usually occur in six weeks of usage.

If you do decide to use Minoxidil, results should occur between 12 and 16 weeks of usage.

Six weeks??? Most people say a cessation of shedding may not occur until Six MONTHS.

When starting proven baldness treatments, plenty of time will always be needed in order to see a difference. Hair grows slow, so expecting fast results is unrealistic.
