Perhaps we are talking at cross purposes. This thread is about a system which is lace front and centre, but with a poly rim at the back and sides. In that design of unit the poly is usually pretty heavy-duty, because it has been added to the unit specifically as a robust surface for attaching tape to. We are not talking about thinskin.
You can literally peel the tape off by getting an edge up and ripping it off like a band-aid!

If I were a taper user, I'd unquestionably use poly perimeter.

Maybe not in the front, but certainly on the sides and back.

Ah that explains why I have ripped thin skin bases in the past doing that with tape.

I was going to make a post on the subject of hybrid pieces, which, prior to the pandemic, I loved - but not am unhappy with.

I've had a full poly piece & disliked it tremendously - it was non-UTS, unbreathable & ridiculous.

My last two pieces, which have been my most rugged & abused by far (with no noticeable damage over the course of months), have been French lace w/ full poly perimeter.

I liked these pieces when I used tape, but since the pandemic, I've been only using Got2B Black for my bonding.

Lace takes Got2B amazingly well. The center of my pieces stick to that gel amazingly well for a daily bond (although I could absolutely go longer). The gel does not adhere well to the poly perimeter portions of my pieces, tho.

Nor does Ghostbond. The lace center clings to that glue in an amazing way but the poly lifts fast.

The biggest trouble w/ hybrid is the hair doesn't all flow the same way. You have hair knotted into the lace & you have hair v-looped or injected into the poly. It all flow harmoniously.

Poly perimeter - or poly sides & back - is amazing for tape use. Removal is a sinch & doesn't result in any hairs flipping & being pulled thru the base.

Beyond that, I hate poly. I'm not into tape anymore, preferring white glue or, even better, Got2B &, as @BaldBearded, it's hard to get glue off of poly. I think it's harder than getting it out of lace.

Lace is so much more comfortable & natural looking, and it affords you the ability to pluck your hairline for a natural aesthetic. I don't know if my units have v loops or injected hairs, but if I pluck them, their roots remain in the poly.

You also can't bleach knots on poly portions...
What Got2b glued you use with a lace base? Yellow or black tube?
And how long does it hold and will it cope with heavy sweating?
Thanks
