If you 've seen my story, you know I'm having a hard time with my hair loss. It is not gradual, as may be the case with many of you. It has been sudden and rapid. I am talking on a scale of one month. I cannot get to a specialist in anything closely resembling a reasonable time frame. But I was able to get a Propecia prescription from my primary care physician.

I struggle with this issue everyday. But I have to admit that it is becoming more and more difficult. I am finding myself drinking a bit more. Sometimes it is all I can do to get some sleep. (Can't sleep; lost a lot of weight.) I cannot seem to calm myself.

To what degree does alcohol affect my hair? I am so troubled, but I cannot seem to get any sleep anymore.

I am continuing therapy with minoxidil, Propecia, and Nizoral. Of course, I do not expect to see immediate results. Having said that, I also cannot take this hair loss, simply becuase it has been so dramatic and has occured over the period of 1.5 months. 45 days!

I'm becoming very scared of myself, and don't know what to do, or whom to turn to anymore. I feel lost.

Don't give up!

First of all, don't drink a lot. Abusing your body is not good for you in the first place, and an unhealthy body might eventually make you more prone to hair loss due to bad nutrition/general health. However, a reasonable amount of alcohol (a glass of wine or so) won0t do anything to you, so if it helps you sleep, go ahead.

Hair loss is a difficult thing to cope with, and definitely takes time, but it's not the end of the world. I know that it can cause a lot of insecurity, but you need to hang on and learn to live with it; just because you're losing hair doesn't mean your life is over. That said, tons of people on this forum appear to face the same uncertainties, and in my short time here, I've noticed that everyone is pretty solidary. So we're all here for you! :D

I am not an expert, but from what I've read, if your hair loss is very dramatic, it might be some sort of medical condition instead of normal male pattern baldness. I'd suggest going to a specialist ASAP, whatever that time frame is for you.

Like I said, don't give up. Maybe you need to find something to distract yourself with, whatever that might be (sports, videogames, movies, reading, whatever keeps you busy). :)
