Cuebald - IMO it seems alcohol greatly increases male pattern baldness severity but only when combined with other things, such as carbs, yeasts, fat, sugar, etc. Basically, ingredients for candida overgrowth and "fatty liver disease".

kinda gotta agree here.
i dont like arguing with anyone on here really cause we're all in the same boat and it f*cking sucks. but scientists looking at hairloss will have been looking at drugs and alcohol and diet since almost before they got into the field, as to whether or not it's the cause of male pattern baldness. and there's still no proof whatsoever to say drinking or dropping an e or whatever will make you go bald.
it just seems to me like people wanting to get that feeling of 'right, i'm taking every step i possibly can to fix my hairloss' without actually taking finasteride (or maybe other hairloss treatments, but i know finasteride is the one which people sh*t the most bricks about)

eating brown bread won't give you a full head of hair.

I would personally conclude that its the overall health of your body (vitamins, healthy metabolism of all hormones) that alcohol effects negatively to the point it would accelerate hairloss is the overriding liklihood of effect.

Freakout... yeah I've wondered about the connection to milk estrogen as well. I wouldn't be surprised to be honest, but I don't think it's the cause of male pattern baldness in my case personally (digestive issues seem too closely tied to it).

I do however agree that milk estrogen should be limited, and I think I will switch to water kefir once I've corrected my digestive tract...
Since you both believe that good health will help in preventing male pattern baldness, you may want to take these into perspective.

Baldness is associated with prostate cancer. This is by two study teams which are independent from each other - Australian and American.

Will prostate cancer treatment also prevent baldness?

Finasteride is used for prostate cancer treatment. So that's a yes.

Milk estrogen is a factor in the prostate cancer development. Is it a factor in male pattern baldness? Wait for a study or just avoid milk?

Phytoestrogen rich food lowers the risk in prostate cancer development. Will it help in male pattern baldness as well? Do you have to wait for a study?

Tea is rich in phytoestrogen. Tea is also associated with lower CVDs which are associated with male pattern baldness. Will tea help prevent male pattern baldness? I'm not waiting for a study.

When mixed, milk wipes out the health benefits of tea on CVDs.

If I make changes with my dietary intake, it won't cost my anything. Even if it does, anything that's good for my CVS and prostate is good enough. male pattern baldness prevention will be an added bonus if it helps.

(I can post references only found in Mercado's book on request)

Alcohol/masturbation/stress - even if they are a cause in male pattern baldness its all moot as reducing all of them wont get your hair back.

I think it's a good idea to cut milk out anyway. Even to help with allergies, skin, digestive system etc.

I also would like a source for this information. I've heard it but never seen scientific data.

My initial question was not whether alcohol can cause male pattern baldness, clearly it is genetic. But granted most male members of this forum have male pattern baldness, my question was the extent to which alcohol use can increases the severity/rate of hairloss in male pattern baldness sufferers.

I Broke the Mystery of Male Pattern Baldness

It's very difficult for researchers to come up with a credible study because most drinkers generally drink more what is believed to be a healthy dose. And many will not admit to drinking heavily.

I don't know of any study linking alcohol to hair loss. But generally, experts believe that, for women, 1 shot a day is good and, for men, 2 shots a day.

You may want to review that belief. Emerging disciplines in genetics refered to as epigenetics is gaining grounds.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epigenetics
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epigenetic_principle

This discipline asserts that you and your environment is responsible for your condition. Genes are chemically INCAPABLE of switching by themselves. You or your environment did or is doing something that turns on so-called 'baldness' genes.

that's just another old stuff genetics.

Epigenetics is different.

Androgens + genetics + epi = male pattern baldness.

You can control the epi because genes are chemically INCAPABLE of switching by themselves.
